This is for newer players and people who shoot by themselves.
I have been playing in my house by myself. When friends would come over I would beat them with no problem, they really weren't that good.. I would always try to do run outs and thought I sucked.
In the past couple of weeks I have had some top notch players to play against in 9 ball. I was able to hold my and won most of the games.
I know that they were not playing their top game against me but still,I felt pretty good about myself.Big boost for the ego.
My point is you may be a lot better then you think.Keep practicing and concentrate and you can only get better.

That title is what got me to look at this thread:wink:. I primarily play with my se..... EDIT.....:embarrassed2: practice alone, and it is hard to tell if you are any good sometimes. That's cool you held your own against strong players. I know you have quite a few of them in the sunshine state.

It's a great discovery to make. Most people think they're better than they really are and the first taste of reality they suffer, they run away and hide, in the comfort zone, where they are the best or one of the best players in the group.

In your case I would seek to find better players and competitions. Find out where you really stand. Practicing is great but putting it all on the line is the best way to find out how well you really play.

So, you're saying you were able to hold yourself and still beat them?

I used to play with myself at home to. My Dad caught me and said if I kept doing it I would go blind. I asked if it would be alright if I could keep doing it just until I needed glasses.
What? I was talking about pool. What did you think I meant?

What was meant was that even though I may of beat them most games,a lot of it was that they would screw up and leave me an open table. We also weren't playing any safeties or pushes. So i got lucky more often then not.

For me, playing alone is where I make some of my strongest breathroughs...Then, I go play tough competition to see if the breakthrough is the real deal or not.
