I f****ng loved Bonus Ball

I think you will see in every bonus ball post i've made where I say I didn't enjoy watching it that I still hope it succeeds. I hope I'm in the minority and people love it and the pro's carry the money away in buckets. The good thing about it being on espn 3 is maybe it can reach some people who aren't on this forum and weren't aware of it and can get it rolling. I may not like bonus ball personally but I love pool and I'm tired of seeing our best players having to play in little weekend tournaments to win little money trying to survive.

Also the matcha are streaming on the watch espn app for you to watch anytime if you missed it

Hello all. Brand new AZ'er here. (First post!) i too enjoyed the BB thus far. Im starting to catch on a little and it seems like a pretty good format.
I live in Greensboro, NC and play out of Breakers. Earl Strickland's old stomping ground. Stop by if you are in the area and play a few racks. 10 9' GC's. Easy going crowd.

New games?

I watched a bit of the match yesterday. In my humble opinion, the game sucks just as bad as it did the first time I saw it. Why on earth did they not choose a known game to push so hard... a game that people actually know to some extent!? Snooker would have even been a far better choice.

All pool games were "new" at one time.

Seems like a lot of folks like BB...if you don't like it, don't watch it. But why discourage others from checking it out?

I didn't like to so much at first, but it grew on me. One suggestion I have is that the announcers explain the rules, say once each hour. Not all viewers can watch the entire broadcast, so if they miss the rules explanation at the beginning, they may not continue to watch...

Stupor bowl

wrong ... have you seen the cost of nfl sunday ticket? it's up to $300 for the season and people pay it with no problem. People ***** on here about paying $20 for pool streamed. They would pay for the super bowl if they had to.

I, for one, wouldn't watch the Stupor Bowl if they paid me.

Do you know how much the NFL corporation profits, without paying any taxes? All tax-paying Americans are funding the event, without a choice...

if you did like bonus ball or if you at least like pool, go here...

https://r.espn.go.com/members/contact/tvindex

and tell ESPN that you want it on TV next season or at least on ESPN3 for the entire regular season and playoffs.

if you don't like bonus ball, be cool and tell them you like it anyway.

1) your obviously in the minority. The game got A 47 share which means 70 percent of the people in this country watched the Super Bowl.
2) all teams and players pay taxs just not the nfl itself. Is it there fault they fall under a tax exempt law? Do you take advantage of all your tax breaks? I'm sure you do. Should it be changed? Sure. It's rediculous any of these mega corporations don't pay taxs. But until it is there just taking a Advantage of what the law allows. Wright your congressmen if you want it changed.

Did espn3 pay them for the rights to air bonus ball or did they do it free just for the exposure ? We will see when and if the next season starts how many people pony up the dough to watch streaming. I hope for the players sake many people do.

Ok,thanks for the link for feedback.I went and took care of my part of voting for BB.I hope it comes back next season!!

This instance show cases just how important shot selection is in Bonus ball. Minn would have kept the advantage in that game if they would've done what Scott was suggesting. By NOT choosing to pocket the orange for 2 points and play a two rail on the bonus ball and putting it out of play for Pitt...

Jaden

You are 100% correct Jaden!! This is a thinking mans game. That particular shot that Scott suggested is how a one pocket player thinks. Look where you want to put the cueball, and do something offensive. Mistakes pay a large price in this game. Adam Smith played wonderfully. Unfortunately he was unable to fade the intense pressure at the end. This is a very exciting game to watch, I love it!!

One thing I'm noticing is that there has to be a better break and shoot strategy than smashing them open. If I were playing I'd try to find a legal break that gets as many balls on my side as possible. Not shre if guys are playing a lot of strategy in that regard yet.

One other thing Scott Frost is positioning himself as the Johnny Miller of pool commentary. Definitely not afraid to call out what he views as poor play or poor decision making. That style isn't for everyone but I've always liked it.

Very good observation, but I think part of the problem is that the breaker is required to get a minimum number of balls (two, I think) to the head end of the table. That makes a soft break, as in one-pocket, impossible. And breaking too hard makes it very difficult to get a shot on the first purple ball.

I think the pros are very cognizant of the importance of the break in Bonus Ball, but I don't think very many of them have figured out the ideal break, yet.

Thorsten Hohmann's break would be the one to watch today.

Doodysquat,

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to welcome a new member to the forums, in a thread that wasn't an introduction. This is a first for me.

Welcome to the forums!
