I feel terrible for what I did.

I was in a sport bar practicing tonight and two of my teammates were there too.
So one of my teammates just bought a cue from the other and we were checking it out together.

He pulls it out of the case still wrapped in the plastic, unwraps it, hands it to me and says 'check it out' I ask him 'are you sure, it's never even been chalked'
he insisted so I started hitting balls with it.

So he walks into the other room and while he is gone I get off balance a bit and bump the butt into the metal part of the Valley pocket and ding the hell out of it. Like a deep finish ding almost to the wood.

So he comes back and puts the cue in the case without noticing the ding. So I sit there feeling terrible for awhile and finally man up and tell him what happened.

He was trying hard to be nice about it but he is visibly upset.

I offered to pay the local cue guy to touch it up, I didn't know what else to do.

His cue might be dinged but he has a good friend.

I was in a bar with my girlfriend. We were waitin for a galpal of hers to get in from the airport - she was from out of town and I'd never met her before. My girl says to me that her friend is really small and loves to be picked up. I'm six-five and she's says it would funny if when her friend comes in I could holler out her name and run over and lift her up. Long story short, this tiny little blonde about 4 foot 11 walks in. My girl gives me the high sign, I holler out ANNIE and rush over. I lift her up under both arms and raise her to the rafters only to hear thwack thwack thwack. I stuck her head right up in this old 1940's ceiling fan. Damn near knocked her out. Anyway, when she came to and we were properly introduced, she asked if the cue stick next to me was mine. I said yes and she promptly stuck it up in the same fan. Dinged it up pretty good. 35 years later and we're still friends, but I have never told her it was a house cue.

sooo...what was the value of the cue?

what kind of cue was it? Value?
yes, i think it makes a difference...if it was a meucci, who cares, lol
If it was a SW...or black boar...i say FEEL BAD...take a 2nd mortgage and buy the cue, lol

Shit happens. You feel bad because you care, and you care because you're a good guy.

He has a dinged cue but an honest friend. I'd rather have that than the opposite.

With the cue being new he can't just send it back?

Wait, what? You think if you buy something, then damage it, that it's ok to return it to the person you bought it from for a refund or replacement?

As a small business owner, it's sad seeing people who think that way.

Agreed!! Shit happens if it gave my brand new cue to a trusted pool playing frend and he dinged and did what u did how could I be upset? After all I'm the one that put the cue in your hands.

If it were me I would chalk it up to the game. I mean its not like he said here take my wife and you give her back to him a few weeks pregnet

OMG that's funny, ok and not funny..... my bestfriend's daughter has a scar on her forehead where she was clocked by a fan blade. One night she let Shyanne, sleepover at my house with my girls. Then she sat up while in my daughter's bunk bed and bang. There was blood and a good amount. I think Shy was 5 years old, she is 10 now and still has a scar. My bf reminded me of this last month. I'm still mortified by the incident.
La vida es asi.

I loaned a Madison Bob sneaky to a teammate once. He missed a shot and in anger slammed the shaft against the edge of the table, then looked at me with a guilty look on his face.

Oh well.

So the guy never missed before, so you didn't know he would do that, not your fault, not at all, not even close.

Ive had the honour to break with a friends new breakcue. Didnt break hard, I think at 75%, and the damn thing breaks. Luckily he witnessed it and said right away that it wasnt my fault. I felt bad, but didnt really feel like paying for a new one.. he asked me to try it, I did nothing funky, and the thing breaks. He said he'd take it to the seller to get a refund/new one. Don't know what would have happened if he asked me to pay up.
