I hate purple heart, butt??

I dislike purple heart in custom cues, but I like the wood in petes (I know it's weird)...Starting at the top: Jim Pierce, Sugar Tree, and Kenny Koo

You are quite right.. it's weird =) At least I have found another who doesn't care for (nay, drool over) purpleheart. Something about that and tulip wood that just doesn't agree with me.

Really nice, especially the"Koo." I am a BIG fan of PH and am waiting on one now.

The Koo cue plays real strong, and I love it! Thank you Kenny Koo for making me this fantastic playing cue!!..I think there might be a misunderstanding with this thread..I really like purpleheart in sneaky's a lot, but can't stand purpleheart in custom cues..I don't know why, but it's my preference..again sorry for any misunderstanding.. :(
 
Nice cues, and I feel the same way except the few purple heart customs I've kept are exceptional cues.
You may be more normal than you think because a lot of great playing sneakies are purple heart, and not everyone likes purple heart in custom cues.

Ted, I've owned several customs made with purple heart over the years(including a 7 veneer cue I got from you), and none of the cues stood out in playability, or design imo, but purpleheart sneakys thats another story..I guess the wood reminds me of stained straight grain maple.. :shrug:
 
Lol. I thought I hated purpleheart too but I have 3 cues with it now. There is a good reason so many cue makers use PH. Maybe second only to maple in the 'hit' department.

Nice cues and I bet they all play fantastic. I like purple heart, although it's not my favorite wood, it makes for solid playing cue and is hard to beat in that regard.

PH is a great wood for cues. But it's like licorice. Too much and it's just gross. It works so well in sneakies IMO because its not busy and neither are sneakies. Also, Purple Heart with a nicely figured piece of maple is the nuts. The Koo has me drooling. I'm sure it has a great sound when it hits. But seriously, is that ivory?

I'm on th other side here, i saw the curly PH sugartree thats a solid one peice butt, and i thought it was stunning. its a very subtle thing. And I agree that prupleheart sneakies are awesome, I have a ph duff in the works now.

Props to Kenny Koo, just met him a week ago and he was super nice! It's good to see that everyone loves his stuff.
