There have been numerous threads about this happening and I don't think it is a big deal. It's never happened to me but I'm sure someone will help you resolve this problem.
 
well i just had a thought. this didnt happen until matta from CC pmed me this morning. so i went in an deleted his and only his pm and it went away

Happened to me a while back...some kinda software glich.

Open up pm's.Delete one.Presto bango back to normal.
