I Hit With Every Q I Make, Do You?

it is an absolute obsession. i have to hit balls with them. i don't always have to be first, but i have to do it.

I also hit with every cue that I build. In my case that is probably only about 15 a year.

i do too
i call it test driving
just in case there's a problem, i 'd rather know before sending off to a buyer and having him have to hassle with returning it
good thing too
i recently finished a cue, took it out for a test drive & CLUNK!!!
horrible clicking sound
put another shaft on it & it was fine
put the clunk shaft on another butt & CLUNK again
came home & changed the tip & went right back to poolhall
guess i had an air bubble under tip ???

Yes I do hit with the cues that I build... on different stages too... with a test shaft, with the actual shaft, without the finish on and after finsihing... even keep it for a week to shoot with it he he he... just makin sure...

Since I still work a public job I only build 6 to 10 cues a year. I just have to test hit every cue. How else can I know it's ok to let it go? I also have a friend who is a better player than I am that has test hit every cue so far. I value his feedback.

Thanks Martin..............know that you let the biggest secret of my building career out.........and I thought I could trust you!

Room temperature....A&W....out of a half full can that first sat in the frig for a minimum of 17 days uncapped!!!

Man, I can't stand it. 11 more days to go before I can even try the first one.

By the time I get one done, that thing has been tested as an air guitar, air drum sticks, air violin, baton, golf club, door stop, table saw push handle (on those where the customer has nagged me), and then Yes, I play for about a half hour with each cue. I figure if they pass all those tests, then surely they will be good enough in at least one category for the customer. Hopefully as a cue.
