Does anyone know if Efren retired tomorrow, would he have no money worries. With all the money he's given away to family and friends it kind of makes me wonder what he could have left. I know he doesn't get 100% of what he wins in action or tournaments. Would be a shame after all he's done for the game and his country if he needed to keep playing until he was a just shadow of all his good years. Johnnyt
 
Efren will be just fine. Don't worry about him. Some of the other filipino champions have not managed their finances as well.
 
In my opinion, the smartes move he has made all these years was remaining in the Philippines. A player, and national hero of his nature would be tempted to settle overseas somewhere, but he's stayed home, and a 'home' he gets alot more bang for his buck.

Of all the pro players i've seen play if I had to pick a dream match to watch it would be Efren vs Shane. Efren is my favorite player to watch and Shane is a close second. These 2 players can do things with the cue ball that's just awesome to watch.......

Mr. Reyes owns a significant amount of real estate in PHI's. Like Jay stated, no worries!
 
If I'm not mistaken, I think he invested some of his winnings buying land properties in his hometown of Angeles, Pampanga. And his wife is in charge of money management.

So, yeah he will be just fine.

P.S.
Not to mention the local commercial sponsors lining up to him.

I think you mean "Some of the other filipino champions' wives have not managed their husbands finances as well"
 
There was an article years ago where he mentioned that his wife did manage his money even before he courted her. He said that his soon to be wife saw a lot of good players throw away their money for nothing that she dosen't want that to happen to Efren, hence she introduces him to saving and banking.
