I love pool, I really love pool because?

It's calming and sociable. ...Kind of "meditation for extroverts".

People (probably including myself) are often quite bad at focusing on what they're doing. They (we) get flustered, or simply repeat the same words and actions over and over without much self-awareness or awareness of others.

During a game of pool though, there seems to be at least a slightly higher chance that the parties involved will focus on what they're doing. In this respect it's like meditation without the introversion.

At the same time, playing pool with someone is a bit like having a conversation with them. There's an exchange, and you learn about the other person. If you're both really thinking about your game consciously, then it's more "real" than most of the actual conversations which go on in life outside the pool room.

Also, sometimes girls get to see me break and it makes me look stronger and more macho than I really am. :embarrassed2:

In many fields, your worth may be evaluated by popular opinion.
Artists, singers, and politicians need approval....and the public can approve
some awful paintings, songs, and representatives.

But pool pays you back in a just manner....
...if you play well, pool will let you know....
...and if you play poorly, pool will let you know.

You don't need to bother seeking approval from any other source than the game itself.

So if you have a long run at straight pool, or break and run out at 9-ball,
especially under heat.....
...give yourself a pat on the back....you earned it.

Pool let's me enjoy playing with my friends rather than playing with myself.
Wait a minute, that didn't come out right.
Why play with myself when I can play with my friends.
Damn it! One more time.
Playing with my friends is great. I can always play with myself later.
Ah, screw it.

Both make me smile

Hey PT109,
Give yourself two pats on the back, as you deserve them! I like what you just said as well.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I love making the cue ball go backwards. I find this to be the most profound pleasureable experience in life.

I love to gamble at it!

I will take the 5 the brake ,ball in hand after the break and a 2 shot guarantee

Seriously I have a love hate relationship with pool kinda like my Girlfriends some times I can spend all day with them other times I can't take 5 minutes of them. But I just can't seem to live without either

Too many good things to list about this great game, but just to know that you can play 24/7 and not have to worry about the weather outside, now that's an absolute plus.
