I have spoken with Dennis a few times since taking delivery of this cue.
If you believe in omens and things of that nature (and I do), the cue was
signed and dated by Dennis between the points. The date on the cue is
my birthday! Sorry if I'm repeating this to some of you! I've been telling
everyone who'll listen...:thumbup:

Congratulations on your "S" collection and it sounds like the Searing was ment to be with you...enjoy :smile:

Now that's cool! One of the little details that I appreciated was that when the JP's are on the cue, every S and every ring lines up.

The "S" on the bolt that holds the bumper on,
lines up with the "S" logo on the ivory buttcap.
Yeah, I'd say that's attention to detail...:cool:

I'd like to thank Dennis again,
for building such an awesome cue...
 
The hard curly Searing Border Brother couldn't have a better owner than Terry. This is a man who truly appreciates the Searing engineering and high difficulty inlays. I hope you will continue to enjoy the cue for years to come sir! Martin

Enjoyed seeing that cue in person again at the Chicago cue show (along with some others in your collection.) I'm sure Dennis was happy to hear that's your new daily player instead of just a display piece. He can always refinish it in a few years after it has seen some action!

beautiful as they come, that's for sure. I
am making the SouthWest available for sale
and if you know me personally then you'll
know there is something I have a chance to
acquire that is more valuable than any cue
you can think of, and with a chance to get it,
I'm willing to let the SouthWest go. The info
is listed in the wanted/for sale section...
 
i hate to go against the crowd
but i like the southwest better,especially the play but also the looks,originality and overall quality

that soutwest is really nice,i let about a dozen of the fancy ones slip away in my time

I don't disagree with you Dean. I think Jerry and Laurie
are at the top of the list of people who make or have made cues that are
some of the best players you could possibly ever hope to own. I have had
many, many SW cues and as anyone who truly knows me would tell you,
I change playing cues like most people change their oil in their cars. Often!
I'm never content with one playing cue, that isn't to say that they're bad
but I just get the desire to try something different. I'm trying to break that
trend and stick with one cue. If I learn from my mistakes (regrets) about
the cues I've sold and wish I would have kept I feel I have then accomplished
something. There are only a handful of cues I've ever owned that I truly
regret selling. One of those being a maple windowed Gus, another being
the first custom cue I ever owned which was a Schon cue I ordered from
Bob Runde himself back in the mid-80's, and a few more recent cues I've
let go. But those I let go knowing there would be a little seller's remorse,
but I'm not here to try and fool anyone. I'm not a "big-time" collector, I'm
just a guy who likes to play with the best cues out there. I read somewhere
that there is no such thing as the perfect cue, but it's fun trying to find it.
I would agree with that. However, having said that, I do think there is the
perfect type of cue (for me) and I just purchased it. The Szamboti Hoppe
cue is one of my favorite all time designs, and the cue plays great, so I
added it to this thread. After all, it is an "S" cue, and I do love them. Funny,
now that I think of it, all the cues I regret selling begin with the letter S.
Oh well, I'll try not to lose any sleep over the ones that have slipped away
for whatever reason. I'll just try and learn not to make too many more of
those mistakes in letting anymore slip away.
***Footnote***
I don't mean to blame this on my wife, because I think I'd be lost without her,
but...if I were single, I'd own ALL of those cues I let slip away. Just sayin'...
