I need advice!

How in the world do you figure the hooliigans here on AZ kept YOU on the straight and narrow??? Some of their advice was as low road as it gets.

Fred <~~~ and I'm damned proud of these yahoos I call family

I was thinkin the same thing fred. Some of our advice (mine especially) would be taking the low road. But it wouldve made me feel better. Good thing jays a bigger man than me.

I didn't bother reading all the responses but I would tell them to e-mail you a picture of the damaged book as proof at least. Then you would at least know you are not being scammed.

I have now offered to send Mr. X a copy of my book, and after he receives it he can pay me. We'll see what happens. I do feel better taking the high road. Once again you guys have kept me on the straight and narrow. I do tend to stray sometimes. ;)

Nice job sir!

KMRUNOUT

(also glad I was wrong about pointing out to him your offense at his tone--guess this is one of those times where you were dealing with someone who wasn't a total ass)

Hey Jay just think of all the sharp guys who borrowed twenty or thirty dollars from you and stiffed you does it really matter. It means nothing but agravation so you got stiffed again. FastEddie says move on send the book and give his honorable name out.

Stonewall him. People like him are the reason i hate humanity. Let him sue usps while he's at it. for failing to deliver the book. Me personally id mail him something other than your book,(like a dog turd) im a hateful person though.

I won't hate everyone because of a few bad apples. In the pool world, I have met MANY wonderful people and a few not so wonderful ones. On balance it's a damn good group.

I'll leave you with this Abe Lincoln saying, "The best way to defeat an enemy is to make him your friend."

You are a good man Charlie Brown!

Another suggestion

Jay - I agree with those who recommend a refund, and to write it off as just doing business. Not worth the aggravation.

Can you refund via PayPal, so there's a record of it?

Another plan would be to make Mr. X the topic of a chapter in your next book. :)

I already refunded his money on Paypal, early yesterday. This one doesn't belong in any book. I've got a lot better stories then this to tell.

I'm a day or two late with this but I should still post it. The guy who gave me so much grief about the damaged book, and its return, did send me the money for the new book I sent to him. I never did get the damaged book back, forever lost in the mail system it appears. So he got the book he wanted and I got paid for it. All's well that ends well. Thanks again for all the good advice.

Thanks Jay,
I have a paypal account I just have to learn to work with it.

Thanks,

Robin Kelly:thumbup:

Alls well Jay, except you know you got bit for a extra book. Where do i find your book since you take paypal? I would also bet 100.00 that the person has made a post on this thread, and i can pick it out, but i understand it would be bad business for Jay to say who it was!

It doesn't matter now. I sold two books for the price of one, just like selling wholesale. I am curious what happened to the damaged book, but I guess I'll never know. LIke someone else said, if that's the worst that happens in nearly 2,000 orders, I haven't done too bad. Not one bad check yet (knock on wood!). And only two damaged books and one delivered to an incorrect address. Oh, and my publisher shorted one carton two books. 66 instead of 68. I went round and round with them but they never made good. Cost me $20 or the price of two books wholesale.

To order, just go to my website listed here.

Book

Sounds like he is just trying to get a free book. It's pretty hard to damage a book in shipping. You made him a fair offer, if he dosen't send the damaged book back than I say its over. After his tone I would not send him another book without receiving the first one.

- Bill

I agree completely with Bill here. It is real hard to damage a book in shipping unless it was caught in some machine that ate it up, and then they probably would not finish delivering it.

This guy is just trying to con you out of a free book for his buddy or something. Don't buy in, and don't feel guilty Jay.

Too late now. What's done is done. The best advice I got was that one bad deal could hurt me more than a hundred good ones. With that in mind I sent the man a new book, via First Class mail. When he got it, he paid me. End of story!

Might have been said before, but if such an incident would happen again, I would point out that it is professional procedure to get the faulty item back before shipping out a new one and that it's nothing personal. End of :S

That is what I did, but the damaged book got "lost" in the mail on it's way back to me. Earlier in this thread I explained all that.

Just refund the money and don't sell him a book! Eat the $20, and don't do business with him anymore.

You are going to have to eat the $20 either way ( he either files a claim through paypal- or you send him a new copy). So let him have his money back, but don't send another book!

My opinion
