Definitely Dan Janes...letter attached:

Well, I was wrong...this is a new cue for me. Dan Janes said these are 1 of 1 cues made by him, so that makes it a great find for the OP.

Here is the email that he sent me this morning:

"Joe,
Yes this cue is one of mine.
My son and I make a few cues a year to see what we think of a design or different construction method and just put initials on them (DJ or SJ).
I looked at the cues on AZ and we made both of them.
I think there was only one of each of these.
I don't remember what year I made them but not more than a few years ago.
The joint is not ivory it's made of Herculite Ultra and is very strong.
Sorry it took me so long to answer but I just saw your email this morning.

Regards,
Dan
Joss Cues"

Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time on checking and getting info on this cue. Appreciate it! this cue is for sale any offers let me know

I don't think Dan Janes, aka Joss

Maybe Doug Jones out of Washington. He uses a "DJ" logo, although not like this one.

I can't quite tell what type of pin it has in it...got a better pix of joint/pin? What is under the rubber bumper?

Joe

Joe I also live in Washington State and I have never heard of this cue maker? Does Goug live here or Washington DC?

Thanks Joe

I guess it pays to keep an open mind..I would have said no way that is a Joss.. Thanks for the info..

That should have been written as Dave Jones...he is out of Lynwood, Washington. I don't know whether or not he is still making cues.

OK I know who you are talking about, and yes Dave is building cues again. Back in the 90's Dave and Billy Webb were building cues together, they brought in one of Billy's friends to help them with shaft turning machines, you may have heard of him his name is Jerry McWorter. Bill and Dave produced a series of cues locally called Finish Line cues, then around 1999 Billy went back to Arkansas and Dave continued to build locally. There were not allot of the finish line cues produced, most I have seen have a checkered racing Flag on the shaft collar, and they say Finish Line on the butt both were decals.

Just some information for you, and by the way Dave certainly builds a nice cue.

joss custom

Stakehorse: Thanks for that link above. It looks like these two cues had the same owner at one time. Very interesting.
