This starkey carbon fiber shaft weighs 3.7 ounces
with maple i like 4.5 ounces if I can find them
or the best one I ever had weighed 4.5

I tried others but the heavy didn't seem the same

I am kinda confused, the only way I can pick out a shaft is by trying it
and then the next guy picks one and doesn't like the one I picked

So subjective,I hope if i find a really good one that I hold on to it

deanoc, have you had the opportunity to hit balls with Starkey's carbon fiber shaft? Mine will be here tomorrow afternoon. how do you like it? how is the feel?

I tried the sharkey carbon fiber shaft today

it was very easy to draw the cue ball

i bought and tested the revo carbon fiber also

if there is any difference in play,i am not the one
to tell you

they both play about the same which is good

the biggest difference is that I got this one to fit my schon and it cost about $300 less

for a player of my skill range i would never pay more for the same benefits

i also would recommend these shafts to you,it is black and has some design
or pattern that some of the guys in the pool room said would disturb them
neither of them could shoot a lick and i never noticed and thing that disturbed
me in any way

if i were you,i would order this one, save $300 and enjoy myself

not giving up on maple

i am playing my best pool ever with maple and can not afford to switch
at one pocket i don't need a lot of action on the cue ball

if i were younger and played 9 ball imight switch+

all i was saying is that this carbon fiber seels really nice and
does make drawing the ball easier

i like it,but i am not the kind of player who really needs it'

i play old man pool and control is important

i am not good enough to enjoy all that carbon has to offer

many of you guys will probably make the switch

Yesterday I Tried All Three: Revo, Cuetec & Starkey Carbon Shafts

Yesterday I tried the carbon shaft that Starkey makes. He sent Tommy Hill a prototype last week to test and I was able to compare it against the Revo shaft and Cuetec carbon shafts. The Revo shaft is sans any ferrule as most knows; the Cuetec shaft uses a small ferrule and the Starkey shaft actually has a ferrule. The sight picture was the best with the Starkey shaft and I judged it to be the closest feel of the three shafts to my maple shafts. It was also the lightest weight of the three shafts and had a discernible tiger like stripe encompassing the shaft which is dark gray. As far as how I liked it. I enjoyed the added movement I could give the cue ball. Center ball stroking and shots with of more follow were for all intent and purposes as straight as a laser or so it seemed to me. I found it to play really well; at 1/2 the price of Predator's Revo, Starkey's carbon shaft sure is worth considering. But the bottomline is I'm sticking with my cue-makers' original maple shafts that are heavier and tapered the way I prefer.

First 50 Racks with Starkey's Carbon Fiber Shaft

I received my carbon fiber shaft from Chuck Starkey over the weekend and played a few lazy racks at home, just banging around balls, partly to get a fell for bridging, but also break in the new Ultraskin Ivory tip for a test spin. It's a piloted 5/16x14, around 12.2 mm at the tip, and paired on my Schon SP-49A.

Overall, it took me about 30-45 minutes to feel comfortable and adjust to not using SO much side-spin and reducing stroke speed in order to get proper action on ole whitey for position play. After about 20 racks, the tip was feeling pretty sporty, but was a bit too much meat for my liking, so i went to work to get the shape and size I desired. I played another 5 racks and felt good with it.

Packed up my Starkey Carbon Fiber (SCF) shaft, took it up to the local pool hall, as I was running a local APA Singles Qualifying Splashboard for March Regionals. Even though it's not the arrow, I felt like I was shooting very well, and the first two racks in the competition, I racked&ran the first win, and then broke&ran the second rack. I ended up qualifying in 8-ball, and made it into the Finals for a 9-ball spot, but lost to one of my teammates (she's a 2), that wasn't missing, and I just couldn't get a good run going.

The action with the SCF shaft is less effort, more reward. I let a few folks that are Revo-fans shoot with it, and they liked the woven pattern, the action they got being comparable to the Revo, and they loved that the size was smaller than 12.4, and the taper felt well. The biggest difference they mentioned was the sound upon contact, and how it didn't ting/ping, but offered a solid contact and feel.

Now that I've shot 50 or so racks with my SCF, I like it overall, but thinking that maybe the Ultraskin is not for me. I am used to shooting with either a Tiger Sniper or Zan Hybrid Max, so the next step is to either get to like the Ultraskin Ivory, or switch up the tip.

I was able to play without a glove with this, but was using a microfiber cloth and the Cue Doctor Rx Magic Cloth in between matches to wipe it down, which seemed to keep it from dragging in the bridge hand. I will have a backup glove in the off-chances of more humid conditions.

Chuck was VERY easy to work with, about 36 hours of conversing before I bought the shaft, and within 24 hours, he had it in the mail, 2 days later I had the shaft in my possession. Top notch service. Stand up guy. You can tell he enjoys what he's doing, and isn't just doing it for the money.

If you have any questions about the SCF shaft that I may be able to help you answer, lemme know!

Going to Dallas to see Dean

My wife, who is been very ill is felling a little better so we are going to Dallas
from our home in Temple Tx. After lunch at one of her favorite restaurants
we are going over to Dean and June's for visit. I tried to get them to join us
for lunch but I think Dean is afraid I might try to stick him the tab. What a
tightwad, he should consider all the postage money is going to save not
having to mail the cues and shafts to me to borrow, One of the things I am
bringing back is the Starkey CF shaft,. I will try, it comparing it with the shafts
I have and borrow from Dean. PPri ce 14 did a good review, the thing that is
a VERY BIG deal to me is the sound and how it fells going through my fingers.
What is big deal about using a little talc,. I like talc. you can hit it with a hatchet
and no problem, but put a little powder on your hands and it's ruined. We'll
see.

Fear not oh faithful followers
Forewarned is Forearmed

I will hide the starkey cue and misdirect Jacks attention into borrowing the Gold Crown

His wife will have no part in a Gold Crown in her living room and I will escape unscarred

when Jack gets home and turns on his computer he will read this and realize thatI
got him again

He won't be so confident in the future

Anyeway I like this Starkey shafts,it is sweet

I think I might even make more balls with it

At any rate once potter gets hold of it with Talcom powder I am dead in the water

Was wondering how Chuck Starkey's Carbon Fiber shafts were, since I've been seeing him sell quite a few lately. Thanks guys.
