I saw Mika make this shot, or something very close, while hanging out at Amsterdam Billiards a while ago. So I decided to try it myself. 2 Hours later I made it. If I had been working on any other drill I would probably be an A player by now:

The object is to make the 1, then come 3 rails and make the 2 same corner.

The hard part was getting major english along with enough speed to get around the table.

It's possible to 'overcut' the ball, many times I scratched in the lower right hand corner.

This is a shot that will surely test your stroke. It may also test your sanity.

That's a nice trick shot...definitely a stroke shot! Are the two OB's measured distances to the pocket, or just sort set wherever?

It took me 7 tries to get it.

The first try I hit it perfect, came around without enough speed and came up and froze to the 2 ball.

It took me the rest of the tries to get the amount of spin with amount of speed working together.

I was putting too much spin on the ball at first and kept making the 1 and the cue ball in the same pocket.

I started with both OB's on the rail right at the first diamonds. I 'cheated' and moved them into 1/2 between the diamonds and pocket. Figured that'd be good enough.

Exactly! This is a standard 3-cushion shot where you would cut the 1st ball to keep it parallel to the rail to avoid a potential kiss (same as making it in the pocket), and make sure to come in "short" directly to the 2nd ball as diagrammed instead of taking a chance of getting the extra rail where the first ball might be in the way.

IMHO your diagram shows too much English. Making the required hit to pocket the 1 and clocking the CB you only need 2 tips not 3 or what I like to say 2 diamonds of English to hit your third rail.

Any shot has a practical application for pool. Imagine that the 2 ball is on the same rail as the 1, fairly close to the 1. I think this would be a great shot to learn for playing 2 balls on the same rail. Up and down the table is always a danger, having to cross the angle of the shot. This route allows you to hit the ball a little harder and control the speed by using multiple rails. I think this is a great shot to learn for playing any rotation game.
