===========================

Hi All,

First and foremost, I wanted everyone to know that prior to starting this thread I PM'd Jerry Forsyth and
asked him if it would be okay to post a thread introducing my new website and to ask for feedback on it.
I did not want to conduct myself inappropriately or cross-the-line in any way. Ultimately, I did receive Jerry's
approval to post. Thank you Jerry!

So my new website is PoolWorld-Ads.com. It's a classified ads website exclusively for Pool & Billiards!

It's kind of like our very own craigslist. All Pool & Billiards, nothing else. Please have a look and tell me what you think.
I'm looking for ways to make the site better and your feedback would be invaluable for making improvements. For example,
there might be more categories that could be included.

Here's a short summary of features:
  • Free listings
  • All listings must be Pool & Billiards related
  • Up to 5 images can be uploaded
  • 30-day renewable ads
  • Ability to include hyperlinks to your ad (link to AZB or ebay or whatever)
  • Ability to view Nationwide results or just results from your own state
    [*]Section for Tournament Announcements
  • Save Favorite Ad(s) Feature for future reference
  • RSS FEED: stay up-to-date with the latest listings using your favorite news reader
  • ONE-CLICK INDEX: Includes ad counter for each category. No fishing in empty categories for ads.

Some of the Categories:

  • Pool Cues
  • Services
  • Tournament Announcements
  • Apparel
  • Videos & DVDs
  • WANTED
  • + lots more

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I look forward to hearing your feedback.

Not all at once please. :D :)

Good or bad... I want to hear it all.

Anyone willing to give me honest feedback?

Regards,

I took a short look at the site, I like the layout. Is there a way to sort items by location? If the site became popular that would really help, as most people are leary about ordering used items online unless the sellers are part of a community like AZbilliards.

Good luck, Id really like to see it take off for you!

Looking good.
A little more white space between the adsense module on the left and the listing section would make the pages look a little less busy. Are all listings going to be added by date of submission only or do you have some user selection tools setup to change the sort order, i.e. by price, newest listed, by state, etc.? PM sent.

Hi Jason- Thank you for looking. I appreciate the input.

Woody-- Thank you too! Yes, you can sort by location. Currently "by state" only. So let's say there were 100 Scruggs cues for sale total nationwide... you could set the state to "CA" (up at top of page) and now only the results for "CALIFORNIA" would display. And this filters all of the categories so that it only shows "your state". Then if you want to view all/nationwide results again you just have to reset the filter to "Show ALL States."

I hope I understood your question correctly. :)

Added a screenshot to post #1 to show the "Filter By State" function (at top).

Looks good . I know you need revenue but do you really have to have a Gay Classified link? It kind of creeps me out.

Hi Dartman,

All FREE basic listings added will be by date of submission. Newest at the top of the specific category. Now, users have the option to upgrade their basic listing by adding "sticky" feature which highlights the ad and stick it toward the top of the list. Or the user could add a Photo Feature, which would randomly display the photo ad at the top of all pages. These are currently set to $5.00 each. Again, these are only options. The basic listings will always remain free.

Ability to sort by State is available (Pull-down menu at top).

PM replied.

Thanks for your feedback.

Blame Google for that. Sometimes ads unrelated to the theme of the page get shown thru Adsense.
Abe can filter that ad/site out if it doesn't go away quickly.

Hi measureman,

I think you're referring to the banner in aqua blue-ish color, right?
Lol... I know it's not the best. But I wanted to put something up. And that's what I came up with real quick. :)

By no means am I good at that sort of stuff. Maybe need to hire a pro to make me a decent banner. :)

Btw, at first I thought that there was an actual "Gay Classified link", not that there's anything wrong with that... but it just would not be "pool related" and have to go.

So there was a Gay Classified Link after all. LOL. :)
I'll need to look into how to to filter that out.

measureman- thanks for your feedback!

Abe just sent for a password reset.. I never got the email. How long should it take? I need to add some stuff. Have you seen the New Diamond barboxes at Shooters Beach & Ellis, HB. I want to post the tourney

ABE -I was just

thinking about you the other day. I was wondering if you had any of those cool soft travel cue cases still going on.

I better go check the new site.

Best of luck with another great idea.

Do you ever slow down? You are truly one of the 'good guys' around this game.

Edit: I visited the site-it looks first class and well designed-like every pool related item you've offered in the past. Now if every potential site advertiser, client, customer or supplier could meet you personally-Man would this take off!!

So- re SOFT CUE TRAVEL CASE: All gone? Sold out? I don't see em on the site. I'll keep checking.

It shouldn't take long at all. Sent you a PM for temporary resolution.
I haven't seen the Diamonds yet. Can't wait too!

Hi B! Thank you so much for the kind words. Lol... It's hard to slow down when trying to play catch up all the time. :D :)

As for the travel cases, I don't have any more at the moment. Will have more by end of Feb. I'll PM you when available.

Thanks for the feedback on the site!

Another idea for custom cues

Thanks to all who have given me feedback thus far!

What do you all think about the idea of separating the High-End Custom cues from the "Pool Cues" category
and giving it it's entirely own category, "Custom Cues Only". In this category, I could list the names of the
custom cue makers. This could give your favorite custom cue makers a little more visiblity.

So I was thinking something like this:

Custom Cues Only
  • Scruggs
  • Hightower
  • Kent Davis
  • Ariel Carmeli
  • etc...

The only limitation is that I cannot possibly list ALL of the Custom Cue Makers. I may have to limit it to maybe the 10-15
most popular and add then "Other" as the last sub-category. But how would I determine which are the most popular?

Best wishes

Take care. Good luck with your venture.

What do you think? Thanks! :)
