The Santa Fe Collection

Roy Malott's Collection - he only brought two cues, the Bill Schick "Gods" cue and the SouthWest "Medicine Bag" cue. I made a case for each of them.

Dennis Glenn's Collection - from left to right:

Richard Black - New SouthWest - Papa Glenn's Szamboti - Denny Glenn's Balabuska - Matsuyama's (Japanese Champion) Martin - Denny Glenn's Szamboti - Joe Balsis' Tad - Billy Incardona's Balabushka - Buddy Hall's Balabushka - (not pictured is Luther Lassiter's Balabushka). I got to put together Lassiter's Bushka and take some practice strokes with it. :-)

Will Prout's collection of box cues along with the case we made to match his Szamboti.

One the top of the picture is David Kersenbrock's FIRST cue. The buttcap and joint material as well as the screw came from the local hardware store. The inlays were made of buttons that DPK filed down by hand, the wrap was stock fishing line also from the hardware store.

Will thought it fitting to bring his own southwest art themed collection of cues to Santa Fe.

I took a picture of just about everyone's display but I apologize for the bad pix. If we can get in touch with the photograpgher from the Japanese billiard magazine then he has top quality pics.

Thank you John for sharing these pictures with us. Next time when you come visit Bay Area Let me know ahead of time. I can take you around.

Pictures

John,

Thanks for posting the great pictures. I got so busy at the show I asked Kiyo, a great photographer from Japan who also brought a stunning Tad collection, if he would send me a cd of all the pictures he took. I was very lucky and grateful when he said yes.

BTW, it was a genuine pleasure to meet you at the show. Your cases added a very nice touch to the cues on display, and were appreciated by everyone. See you next year! I know several of the cases sold immediately.:wink::wink:

I just saw the collector interviews by Justin on the Action Report site, and they were magnificent, providing a superb permanent record of all of the collector cues at the show.

Take care,

Will Prout

John,

I just went to your site and looked at all the ICCS pictures. Wow, a great set!

Thanks again!

Will

Thanks Will. It was great to meet you and Rhoda as well and I am already looking forward to next year wherever it may be.

Thanks for the encouragement about the cases. Besides what we brought Cliff Watkins brought two matching cases to one of his cues, a Matcase and a Garth Bair - On Q dealer case that were really nice.

If you like what we did this year wait until next year. I have been given some nice cues to do matching cases for and it will be a honor and a challenge to do justice to the great work already in the cues.

Hey John, Thanks for taking so many excellent photos at ICCS. Good to meet you. Martin

It was great to meet you too Martin. Thanks for the lesson in leather wraps. I had no idea that it had become such a precise business with such a wide variety of choice.

It was definitely easy to see that the right wrap is essential to complete a good cue design.

Thanks John for all the pictures, its also great to see you "Pickup thepipe again" I missed you for a while there. :)

John Barton what is the Book in the Photo with Roy in the Lower Right Cornor????

That is a little book we put together to show off most of the cases we made since I started in May 2007 until now. We decided to make the ICCS the cutoff each year and show all the cases we made that year.

I made four "artist proof" copies and we gave them away to Roy Malott, Will Prout, and two others who have been great patrons for JB Cases.

A new version of the book will be out soon featuring a slightly different layout and some of the cases which were done by the show but didn't make the first edition.

In this edition I featured JB Cases, GTF Cases, and J.Flowers Tribute Cases. And yes, Cowboy, your case was one of the featured J.Flowers cases.

On the cover is Ralf Ganz's Palace Garden case. On the back is Will Prout's HotRod.

And yes Ralf, a book will be heading your way soon. :-)

If anyone else is interested in them PM me.
