icebreaker tips

Has anyone put an icebreaker tip on and not been able to jump balls with. I just put one on and it breaks well, but I cant jump a ball at close range at all. I'm going back to phenolic.

I play with the Ice Breakers in Sin city, and theought they were wonderful. BTW do tyou know BCAPL HAS BANNED Phenolic as of tomarrow.

I put a ice breaker tip on once and I split it down the side in two months. I didnt get another!

Mine keeps popping off after about 10-15 breaks (was put on professionally). Anyone else had this problem?

Try a Super Pro. I gave my cue repairman a few and he uses them exclusively on his break and jump cues now. I've been hammering mine on my breaker for several months and its still on there.

I've tried the Icebreaker tip twice. The first time, the leather insert popped out, and the second time, two cracks developed along the sides. Just waiting for a chunk of phenolic to break off and go flying across the pool room. I have since taken the Icebreaker off and gone to regular old phenolic. Looks like now I'll have to find a hard leeather substitute.

Doesn't sound like a Professional job to me,

Did the professional use quick dry super glue?

We have one of the professional here in the Valley of the Sun that put tip on so fast i can not believe it. A lot of his Tip don't stay on.

Personally if I had a question about Tiger Products, I would call the experts it is toll free!

On this one I will give you a suggestion. Have your professional installer clean the top of the ferrule before applying the glue with acetone to dry a bit your ferrule. Some ferrules release a bit of a oil/grease... Is he using like the Tiger glue or cement glue?
I had this issue happened when I installed kamui black tips and the issue went away.
Icebreakers tips are awesome... Not because I sell them, but because I play and jump with them. Even yesterday I had a jump like with the block ball 2 to 3" away and I jumped with no effort.
I played all afternoon with our own AZ Cyrex if you don't believe me, he saw the jump shot.
Make sure your wrist is loose and you have the jump cue elevated correctly.

I'm not being critical of you or your tips but I think that shot is impossible....How can a cueball go straight up ( which it has to do to clear the ball in front of it ) and then go forward 3 or 4 inches ?? Doesn't seem logical to me.... I think the cueball hits your shaft on the way up and then goes forward.....
Ever tape this shot and play it back it slow motion ???? Just curious.....

I guess you are calling me a liar LOL!; however there were many witnesses (including Ralf Souquet):p and I assure you, it is quite possible.

I learned from WPBA Star Melissa Morris!

Maybe she has it on video...check her sub-forum.

There was a slomo posted of this shot (not by Corey, somebody else) and the cueball most assuredly went off the shaft. I personally agree with you it is impossible without fouling and damn near impossible even if you foul.

BTW Corey, why did they make the Icebreaker so damn ugly. I have never bought a cue with a logo blazing down the middle of it and never will.

No Corey, I would never call you a liar...I believe you when you say you can, and do that shot...It's just in my mind I can't see how the ball goes straight up and then forward...It just seems it defies laws of physics....Of which I know nothing... LOL......But you get my point......Is it possible it hits the shaft and happens so quick it is not noticable ???
By the way, your tips are great and jump and break just fine....It's just that shot I'm not sure about no matter what tip is used....You know what I'm saying ????

It is actually impossible. I can do it my self but the cueball goes off the tip on a second hit. It is not possible for the cueball to gain the forward motion any other way. I have taped it myself and you can see the double hit as the cue bounces away and the cueball rises and hit the cue a second time..

I guess I may have something if I can get it on tape. The high-speed camera necessary for it is $$$ though.

I'll see what I can do. No promises ;)
