ID Threads

Can we put an end to "ID this cue..." threads UNLESS the person proves that they already have the cue in their possession with a time/date/username page hand-written next to the cue?

I find it annoying that everyone, both on here and the billiard subreddit are trying to flip every cue they find. Don't get me wrong, I love historical and vintage cues, but these posts are non-stop, just so John Smith can use the wealth of knowledge here for profit.

Otherwise, if I'm being ridiculous, just tell me 🙂

could not agree more. for every single cue of any stature we have to fade dozens of nothing but cheap asian crap. sorry chop but that's how i see it. if i ever collected cues it wouldn't be this stuff. i just don't see any historical/vintage side to mass produced Chinese sticks. like collecting Yugo's or Lada's. we all got our own itch to scratch i guess.

No worries. I get it completely.

What's bothering me even more since I'm back is even bigger than that, but it is certainly part of it.

What happened to the continuous stream of postings in the cue gallery?

That's what originally brought me here. It used to be the first and last place I looked every day.

A lot has changed, and it only magnifies issues like this one.

I was reading a thread from 2023 that focused on those changes.

Same.

What happened to Cue gallery. No traffic.

But please keep those Cue ID's coming.

The best way is to not reply.
But people always reply.

Justin case you missed it.
His incessant redundancy.
His thin-skinned habit of deleting thread titles and posts when he does not hear what he wants.
His posting cues claimed to be his that are on current auction sites.

Don't reply.

I remember that. I believe he is still out there working FB.
Probably here too, You have to give him credit, he has no cash.

They do not bother me at all. It sucks how many cues are made with no identifying marks at all and so many have logos that are not widely known. Should people who want to know what the heck their cue is go away and find a pool and billiards forum somewhere? It seems to me about enough people have bailed out of here for many reasons. Personally, I welcome any quest for information regarding a the I.D. of a cue anyone cares to share here hoping for some help. Don't be ridiculous! 😁

I think most that do it, think they struck gold, and to be told, by the guys who know. Its a cheap import. And not worth anything.
But yeah i agree, we are a seeing these threads, a lot more now. There is more than enough info on this site, if you do your research properly, you shouldn't need to ask.

That could be said about just about every question on this forum. The cue ID threads don’t bother at all but having its own section is a great idea too. I think one of the reasons why we see so many more of these cue ID questions threads that are obviously not worth all that much to many that have been around the game awhile is for the same reason that we see so many more questions that seem naive or basic. It’s also why IMO why we see also so many answers/responses that are questionable too… it’s because they are coming from people that have not been around the game for very long and it’s indicative. I love AZbilliards and I come and go as my time permits and sometimes if I haven’t been around for a while, which has been in long stretches at times, I’ll speed read through older thread titles or do searches for topics that interest me that I might have missed. I’ve been around long enough to know who to listen to, who not to, who has thin skin, and who can take a punch and that’s always evolving right. A lot of the old schoolers have gone and as time goes on others become the old schoolers. I will say that AZB has taught me patience with SOME others that I definitely never had in a poolroom or even a grocery store checkout line. Or maybe it’s because I’m getting older. 🤣

When I joined this forum 90% of all I.D. questions involved an unmarked 1970's Adam cue. Nice build good looking and no mark. Now most people know what they are. I don't mind helping when I can or scratching my head on some others. An up and coming number of people are finding cues that were not much to begin with but they still care enough to try to unravel the puzzle. Sometimes it is very interesting and more and more it's a 80's 90's P.O.S. I welcome them all and I think if it isn't a pain in the ass to do, it it may be a great separate space. Putting all the unknowns in one spot could be very interesting.
