Idea for expanded Buy/Sell forums

With all do respect... about the comment that is in large red bold font: if you know what you are looking to spend, you wouldn't have to check every thread or search thru all the Wanted/For Sale posts to find something in your price range. There would be a dedicated thread for your price range.
I personally think it would be easier to place Wanted ads also! If I'm wanting to spend up to $400 on a cue, then I'd know where to place that post!
Just my .02,
Zim
I see your point, however, I always seem to buy cues that aren't close to what I thought I was willing to spend. just ask my wife!

You're missing the point here
Do you want to have a forum or an ecommerce solution with a full blown shopping cart setup?
Everybody in the forum or at least most of us have common sense. What I do not like to see is certain vendors sometimes have like 5 or 6 cues bumped to the first page, even for that there is a limit...
So, subdividing to 3 sections seems appropriate: wts, wtt, accessories (cases, felt, chalk, tips, etc)

If the majority of the users are interested in this change, I will be happy to do it. Not going to go in and move all of the existing posts though.

I don't mind extra subforums and I don't worry about keeping up with them since I usually use the "new" button at the top when I am looking to see all of the latest posts.

I will check back on the thread a little later and see what the general consensus is. Looks pretty overwhelmingly positive right now.

Mike

Good Idea...this would be great start in improving the listing view. Just too many different types to account for but I'm for anything that can improve coverage for our listing.

I really don't want 5 or 6 sub sections to filter through. If it is NOT broke, don't mess with it!

Since AZhousepro is watching this thread...
my suggestion is to split in 3 sections NOT 6

1.Cues for sale/trade
2. Cues wanted
3.Accessories wanted/for sale

We need everyones opinion-please chime in
thanks-jeff

If it's not broke, why fix it?

I buy on impulse, and I think a lot of people do....I'm looking for good buys, not specific items at specific dollar amounts...I like the idea of 1 forum that I can browse for billiard equipment....I won't need to jump from forum to forum to forum....I'm not a high powered seller, but if I was I would want the largest audiance possible seeing my threads ( selling 101 ) to increase my odds of the sale...jmo

Well maybe, it's time Az can invest in a auction style listing like ebay. I think Probid which is PHP based can directly integrate with this forum module. The wanted/for sales section should be just that...but I do see the value of been able to add comments etc in regards to the cue been listed available for sales. Maybe, Az can create a single signon that allow listing to be created like a post for trade, sell, buy in an auction format while allow others to add comments etc. Then all the listing can be sorted, listed by amount, etc....why not create our own ebay here?

Basically anyone that has an azer account will have a listing account that allow them to post for sales, wanted and trade ads only!! Then you won't have listing that are not related to any of these items. People can still comments on the item for sales, wanted, etc.

Duc.

Big mistake.....think about it

No, I'm not kidding. When I was looking for a South West or Sugartree, it would have made it much simpler to find them instead of sorting through 20pages due to the constant bumping.

I see a lot of the same brand cues for sale, not 800, so I think it could be possible. It was just a thought.

I understand your point. However, if I were a high volume seller I'd want my posts to stay somewhat current for as long as possible, so that more true shoppers would see them before they got buried. My reason for suggesting this idea in the first place is that new listings quickly get buried by the constant high volume of new threads. Someone checking this forum once every day or two probably checks a couple of pages of new listings, and misses a lot that he/she is just not able to get to. Breaking these up into meaningful groupings would let listings stay closer to the top for longer than they possibly can now.

I kind of agree with you but what people really like about AZ is the interactivity between members. Not sure if that is the route AZ wants to go.

maybe it's possible if they get this up & running that there could be a search function for a particular brand.
yeah i know all 800 arent on az, but i wonder how many there are though?????? 100?? more????

Yes, I know about the search function. Though it can give you some odd search results when you type in a query.

Had to resort to that method to track down the Sugartree I purchased.
