Good idea or brain fart ?

I am not trying to change the great game one hole already is.
I was just wondering if this style of one pocket would be great also !


IDEA.One pocket in the kitchen.
Pick a pocket in the kitchen.
Rack the balls normally down table.
So when you get BIH in the kitchen you have to shoot down table !
Therefore, Scratches won't be as painful. No point blank gimmes !

Break ?
Bank the corner ball for a break shot.
Definate advantage to have this shot.
But I don't know how the stack will shape up.

Maybe a better break shot could be invented, (Corey)
or a offensive safety of some sort.

Hmm I may have to try it on a table to get a better idea how things will go.

Well that's it for now.
Anyone have some thoughts ?

Awesome idea. Instead of a game taking all day to play out it will take two!:D
 
It would take every game into a long game.... One pocket is already sometimes a long game with a lot of thought. The rules really don't need to be changed. It is already the best game in pool.

A variation of your idea has already been played, a lot, Gary....

8ball Break and Run out

You could make it quicker if you pick a pocket before the break then crack them like 8 ball with top spin and send the cue ball through the rack then shoot baby shoot if you make something, if not you watch, when the other guy breaks you hope for a shot. 10 minute tops.

I find one pocket boring to watch and even more boring to play....a better game would be 3 pocket...each player takes a side.
 
If i remember correctly, decades ago, the top player have played the mentioned way and other variations using different pockets. Many times a player would play to an upper pocket as a spot to another player. Sometimes, they would just play other pockets for a change. I remember seeing diagrams from the players of the 60s/70s showing the different ways to break for the pocket changes.
