Ideas to Improve IPT Broadcast Production

more player interviews about other players lets here some dirt on'em.

the standard he shoots well, too typical for sports.

some 20/20 type interviews to really get them to say the wrong thing.

Get the commentators into the audience!!!

I think it is aweful that never once has Allen Hopkins went into the stands to chat with spectators and obtain audience participation.!!!

Wouldn't it be nice to have Hopkins or whom ever talking with the fans about the matches.

A good example: Hi sir I see you enjoying the match who are you routing for? Oh, McCready I placed my money on him at 2 to 1 on the money (with another fan or at the betting window) against Earl Strickland I think I like my odds. Well, why would you bet against a hall of famer like Earl? Oh, I just liked that movie, and want to hear him tell Earl "its like a nightmare isn't it" HA HA HA :D . Plus, I like his pretty stroke better than earl's sawing wood technique. Well, there you have it and now back to our studio both.

I am shocked this has never been done before to my knowledge!!!

example: Hey where are you from what brought you out etc. etc. etc. The questions go on and on! Tennis does this well!! They send people into the stands to talk to parents & etc.

Could you see Hopkins finding Tony Stewart in the stands watching Shannon the Cannon and the exchange on tv talking pool and reminscing about Derby City & etc. They seek out celeberties all the time to piggy back off their fame at the kentucky derby its a celebrity fest and the Wimbeldon & etc. WHY NOT POOL!!!!. Hey, SO AND SO IS WATCHING there must be something to it!!!

you make pool sound like a little league baseball game, with your suggestion. from all the charity events to player appearances they do make their impression on the fans giving them a little courtesy for under an hour aint that much.

flesh out those player profiles with some constructive criticism. it doesnt even have to air just post it on a .com or something.

Eliminate post game hype

Too often I am seeing 5 to 10 minutes of dead time or more waiting on shots, looking at balls and angles, loading the sardo rack and other stuff that should in my humble opinion be editted out and replaced. No one wants to see the KID DELICIOUS 10 minute pre-shot routine. Or how about this one the 2 minutes of transition time between innings & coming to the table. This kills the excitement. EDIT OUT ever unexciting moment you can. This is not rocket science just common sense people!!!:(

Plus the pocket cam must go! You already know they made the ball. seeing the angles like that does nothing to aid the experinced player or make it interesting to JOHN & JANE DOE. So, eliminate it.

The current Pool product SUCKS!!!! No wonder the National Spelling BEE champion makes more then the winner of the US Open & Derby City combined.

the product may suck but the advertising quality is high considering all the sponsors involved.

emphasis on legends of pool

In Poker Amirrilo Slim & Doyle Brunson where spot lighted. I would do one on Sigel and how he got into pool and a nice bio of the great players that trained him and hunt down some old pictures if possible.

My honest opinion and I strongly believe that if it is not done pool will NEVER go mainstream.

Drop the tournaments and rank the players like boxers are ranked. Show live match-ups each week at a specific time. Have interviews with the players frequently so we can get to know them and WANT to watch them kick the other guys ass. Promo the shit out of it like their the warriors that they are and air it on SPIKE TV. The end and pool will make it! Keep ****ing around with these tournaments that your average viewer can't even follow and we will still be talking about ways to make it better in 10 years.

....and get 2 commentators that know what they are talking about and aren't afraid to stir the pot. Show them alot as well and let us get to know them. Bring them into our homes so we can watch the match with them each week. This 1 pro and 1 idiot duo is absolutely horrendous for any viewer. I don't need to know what english is every commercial break. Are you trying to air amature hour at the apolo or show us two warriors going for the title listening to 2 commentators that talk about them like their warriors and talk about the game like its a gladiator sport. I choose the latter! THIS "now he wants to put "right?" english on this shot Allen? No Dave, remember right english makes the ball go to the right after it contacts the rail so on this shot he will use a little left. Oh that was a beautiful shot Allen. Thats why there pros Dave." HAS GOT TO GO!!!! I already turned the channel and started watching American Chopper.

And the whole program doesn't have to be just the pool table. Like I said before we want to get two know the players. If I don't know the players then I don't care who wins. If I don't care who wins why watch. Bring us into the atmosphere man!

with all this free market research we should get like free cues or something the IPT sells.

my favorite growing up was basketball cards, if they had billiard player cards that might be cool for collectors, its not as much as cues its easy to store. the stats I would keep on players would be some percentage of a derivation based on errors and classifcation of missed shots.
