Identifying your AZB handle in "real life".

We will never know now will we.

I have seen the same exact arguments that erupt on the forum, erupt in real life.
In pool, you have Egomania. Same as in poker.
Posting ones name on the forum isn't going to change that. Whether it is an argument about pool, or politics, or someone getting stiffed, or a deal gone wrong. It's all the same.

Maybe it would be different having names posted in a checkers forum, or a knitting forum, or a camera forum, but not in a pool forum.
Egos are a part of the package and the forum reflects the pool community exactly how it is.
Volatile. You have the good and the bad from all walks of life, with a couple of whackjobs thrown in as well.

Why would you have egocentric behavior in pool? It is a game. You hit pretty colored balls into a hole. Why all the fuss? I play the table, the other person has to wait til I miss as I have to wait for them to miss. The one that doesn't miss the most makes the balls and beats the table. How can you let an ego ruin the beauty of the game. IMO

I am not trying to start with you, I am just sayin'

Dwight

I do. I have a t-shirt I wear that says "you know me as Instroke, OPC, John Barton, and JB Cases - come get some!"

Just kidding, I acutally wear a disguise and also tell people I am Travis Trotter.

- - I have no problem and have met a ton of wonderful people on and off these message boards. I have occassionally been surprised to find out who is who on AZ in my immediate area.

LOL:D
Your kidding right?!

Personally, i think people that want others to expose themselves like they have, have control issues. It's only ok when THEIR wants are satisfied.

And then SOME people just like being anonymous simply because they know it annoys other people and that they get all bent out of shape about it.

:)

My name is Crawford. Hence, the Crawfish. Keith to be exact. The story behind the "Carolina Crawfish" is another one. It has to do with the Australian Oyster. Long story short.... He woofs claiming to be the Australian Oyster, I counter-woof saying I'm the Carolina Crawfish. There's more to it, but I'm hungover.

Actually people are WAY more disrespectful to my real name .... I'm not naming names but 1proscoe comes to mind as someone who always made fun of my real name :(

1proscoe spreads his unique responses around without discrimination so don't feel bad.

PS:By the way anonymity does not bother me.I am not infavor of requiring the posters to give their real names.Demanding for real names more falls in the category of living under Gustapo/totalitarian regimens.

I like watching people's expressions when they ask what my AZ name is and I say "Corvette". Everyone that has asked says "really?" and smiles. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, lol. :D
I get the same reaction and sometimes I am not sure what to think. 9 times out of 10 the very next thing out of their mouth is "CooCooboloCowboy sure is weird isn't he."

Also, if you post on AZB and don't know my real name then technically that makes you anonymous :D

I have no issue in identifying myself here or in "reality". And to each, their own.

Regards to my fellow nutjobs,

I post my real name all the time. I am certain my personal cell number and both home addresses have been posted on here.

I am always accessible and look forward to meeting AZers. My picture is posted and I believe everyone here knows I like to side bet on pool matches, so if I am at a major event I am never hard to find. If anyone is going to the DCC this year, please look me up.

Opinions are like noses, and most people have one. So what is bad about being "weird" as you say?

What???? I didn't "say".

As you can see

I have no problem identifying who I am, nickname or real name, as they are in my signature line.

For the most part though, most players in a Pool room are not aware of any Pool publications, let alone of any Pool forums, or want to be concerned with them.

The players that like our place here are like a rebel group trying to make Pool better for all, and it works to an extent. We do have some influence, however small it may be, but our opinions have swayed Pool players, TD's, and promoters.

So raise you cue over your head with one hand, and declare, "Power to the players" ....
