you dont have to mention diamond, we all know what your thinking when you type.
beauty of wood is if needed/wanted you can freshen it up, of course not needing to ever do so is a plus but not enough of a plus for me to purchase something. some people prefer/like the look/feel of real wood.
do you play with a cutec so you dont have to worry about the shaft getting dings? im guessing you like the feel of wood shafts better...
id also take a gabriel over a diamond any and evey day.
I do think diamonds are nice(play nice) but they also play way to damn fast. its like the cushions have springs built into them, before you say they are fixing that issue.... shouldn't that problem never left the factory? i might be crazy(deff am) but after they built them(1st 1) did they not build it and play on it? this way they could see how horribly fast the balls fly off the cushions?
Thanks Glen
I was hoping sometime this year (before oct. Nov.) u would be coming to WI (eastern WI). I'll stay in touch on az-b.
Diamond needs to hire some apprentices u can mold. Since we all know there’s only one of u.
Thanks
Thanks Glen for the info and advise. I really think highly of the Diamond tables I get to play on. I hope to get to hit some balls on a new version at the Derby. Will you be there?
Yes, the 860HR plays more broke in from day one compared to the normal 860, as in less sliding, and spinning the ball off the cushions is easier. Overall I think it's a better long run cloth because of the little bit higher nylon blend, 70/30 vs 90/10 wool/nylon and less effected by humidity. And because of the final shaving process, the HR is a little more resistant to the balls marking up the cloth. Speed is about the same, but I think the HR is just a little faster, but that also depends on which color cloth we're talking about as blue plays faster than green.

I'd love to be at the DCC...was planing on being there, BUT...I'm still traveling in the wrong direction as of right now. I'm in Montana right now, delivering a Diamond 9ft Professional here, then heading to Washington and Oregon from here...more tables to deliver...and these snow blizzards are NOT helping any:grin:
Thanks for the articulate response Glen.
Re: color. That is nutty...Didn't realize one was oil vs. water...and the pigmentation would be substantial enough to affect roll.
Sorry to hear you'll miss DCC Glen, I guess that is at least partly my fault. Less than 1,000 miles away. Today we had freezing rain and a slight bit of snow (<1"). Weather will warm up into the lower 50s over the next several days, but rain is likely. Do you need tarps to cover the table with -- I can get some 3mil plastic or something like that.

The best table I ever played on was the Gabriel
Pancho
I agree and the rails play great on gabriels tables. I wonder if the new diamond rail system plays similar to them?
If Diamonds didn't bank short, or play springy off the cushions...and didn't leave black marks on the balls from the dyed leather pockets....what else would you sugest....in your opinions...would you like to see Diamond change about their ProAms? I'm just curious as to what...if any, other complaints others might have about these tables.
Glen
The gabriels I played on did have pretty big pockets, which was nice for 14.1. Anyways I liked the way they banked, said nothing good about the rail length or pocket shimming. I just was wondering because you said you think a pool table should play like a billiards table with pocket(which I agree) and since gabriels makes mostly billiards tables, I thought it might play close to a billiards table. Was just a Q. The gabriels table I played on was a vector. They dont even make it anymore.
They are too tall off the ground...and for some reason a diamond table with aramith balls has more skid shots than anything i have ever seen...
