If Diamond tables didn't bank short...

If Diamonds didn't bank short, or play springy off the cushions...and didn't leave black marks on the balls from the dyed leather pockets....what else would you sugest....in your opinions...would you like to see Diamond change about their ProAms? I'm just curious as to what...if any, other complaints others might have about these tables.

While we're being completely unrealistic, might as well ask them to lower the price by 90%. :p

On a more serious note, my only issue with Diamond tables is that they aren't aesthetically pleasing. Although I'm sure many people like the current style (both brown and black variations), I also know that many people don't (including myself). Perhaps they should consider making a second style that has a little more class to it.

They play fantastic, and the engineering is spectacular. Now they just need a little makeover. :)
 
Be able to get it into a basement or guarantee that you are the one who will set up their 3 piece table.

Far fetched but have adjustable pockets.

Instead of a tray have the balls return into a rail like the bb to be easier to pick out the CB or any other ball without fishing for it. This could also serve as a storage for the rest of the balls when playing 9 or 10 ball.

Didn't you get the memo??...If requested, you can take about 400lbs off the total weight of the 9ft ProAm by replacing the 1" one piece slate with a 1" one piece MDF SOLID sheet playing surface...which reduces the total weight down to 680lbs...for you LIGHT weights...:grin:

I agree totally...when I show up at your house with one of them 9ft ProAms.....I'd LOVE to see....yourSELF and your buddys install the table and give me back my cart...now THAT"S what I call.....self INSTALLED:joyful:

One of the draw backs to that design Joey...is that it makes the outside edge of the rails much thinner...which in the case of flipping the table up on it's side into a dolly to transport it from location to location an eventual repair nightmare....because with that much weight right on the outer edge of the rails when the table is on it's side...it'll split the bottom rails...but your idea would be a nice little change...I understand that...but the problems that come with that thinner outer edge are just not worth the repair costs....because we've been down that path already;)

You're just in time then, the new 2011 ProAm model is coming out the first of Jan...priced at about $40,000 I just heard...so if you get your order in before the first of the year....you can still get a new ProAm 9ft at this years price, which is a hell of a deal compared to a GC5...for right around $4,900:D

I don't disagree with you on this point, a ProAm couldn't take second place in a two table beauty contest...but like an English Bulldog.....so ugly...they're cute...why else would anyone own one:D

But, on a more serious note, I think Diamond is going to be looking at creating a real home line of pool tables....with the same playability of the ProAms and the Professionals...so then people will not have to sacrifice playability to get a home-style looking table:grin:...but we'll have to wait and see what comes down the road on that one.

I can understand it for coin-op tables, but many are not coin-op. Why not make an option that is not coin-op and then design it so the balls will come back to the tray at a half-way decent speed?

Neil, the ProAms are the non-coin operated version of the "Smart Table"...which is the coin-operated Diamond bb. The ProAm already has the fastest ball return ever designed on any pool table....3 seconds from the longest returning pocket...and all the balls do come back to the same spot, including the cue ball.

Now, the coin-op on the other hand, is designed to trap the balls and separate the cue ball from the object balls...for pay pool. There could be several reasons why the cue ball sometimes comes down with the object balls...some of them the tables fault, some the fault of the cue ball, and some the fault of the location operator. But, the coin-op is kind of like a mouse trap in the sense that it's going to take a little more time for the balls to make their way through the table to get to where they're going because it's not really a straight shot to get there....like with a ProAm. All coin-op tables have to be designed like a mouse trap to some extent in order to make them work as pay tables....that's just the nature of the beast. So, the speed in which a ball returns through a coin-op table can't be compared to the speed in which a ball returns through a normal ball return system on normal ball return tables...they're apples and oranges different.

Hope that helps to explain it a little better.

I've owned one since the day I had my house, and the ONLY change I would make is to do something about the DAMN black marks on the balls. I have applied at least 20 coats of "hand sanitizer" to the leather and bam, right back the next time it hits the pocket just right. I think they are as close to perfect as you can get for a table, just do something about the leather dye.:thumbup:

Actually...that's not all that hard to do...but can you imagine the nightmare it would be to try and get electricity to say....75-150 tables for a tournament?...and still have time to setup for the tournament:D...keep in mind...the LOCATION owners would have to provide all the electrical power outlets needed...before hand;)

Me too Lawman. I've tried everything and still the marks come back.

Tomorrow...or there abouts:D...yes you will:D as I'm still dealing with some issues here in Vegas....my truck being one of them...I just found out yesterday that the high pressure oil pump needs replacing...at a cost of $2282.00....so, I'm still trying to decide what to do...because as of right now, my truck still runs great...but it's just a matter of time before the EPA gets a hold of me and shuts me down:grin:
