if the indians can lose the world series and still get paid,

there is no hope for pool.

why would kids want to devote their lives to a game where even if you win, you lose?

lose and get rich. that's the way to do it.

what's a little ring between multimillionaires, anyway?

Good Morning White Sox Fans!!! For those of us born, raised, and still surviving in the City, this one is for us and the great North Side. And to all you south siders, I don't even have to say it. CUBS #1

2009 they were purchased for what 640,000,000 by a billionaire. And in a short seven years
are World Champions. I was not a savior will save pool kind of guy, but after this thread I might have to change my mind.

Now what do we have to sell? Even the losing Cubs had something worth $640,000,000.

Congratulations on the victory!

It's funny to see a guy who chose the name "PhilosopherKing" ask why someone would choose to pursue something that doesn't pay well, with the idea that winning and losing is only about money.

When do the hats go on sale?

Don't kid yourself, pro sports are only about money.

Don't kid yourself. Mainstream sports are big business but the money is a bonus to the athletes. The true love is the game. You don't become that great at something because it pays well.

they grow up fast and it's a cash grab. ask their agents.

two words: "contract year"

the best athletes will always be groomed for and will always choose the rainbow with the pot of gold on the other side.

i'll guarantee you that the top 10 natural pool talents never picked-up a cue.

It's like I said before, the money is a bonus.I know first hand of professional athletes who are more Han pleasantly surprised that an agent got them paid so much for what they would have done for a lot less.

the best athletes will always be groomed for and will always choose the rainbow with the pot of gold on the other side. Can you prove that? What is best athlete anyway? Could Gretzky have been groomed to be a baseball star in your opinion?

Talent means nothing without the passion it takes to develop the skill. Those talents that you think are out there would likely never have became an SVB without a strong passion for the game. The kind of passion I'm talking about doesn't come from money. I will say this, I believe if pool became more mainstream high paying sport then more kids would give it a shot and be exposed to a passion they might not have ever found. But if all they want to do it for is the money then they won't make it to the elite level.

Good thread. The Cubs inspiring story reminds us all that even if you are down, you're not out. Over 100 years without a title was just heartbreaking. Well done, Cubs. The drought is over!

Not trying to be negative but it also reminds us you can be a loser for a whole lifetime 😐
