If you can get these through airport security, why not a pool cue?

I think in checked luggage it would be fine? I would put it inside another case. It's clearly a personal item and not a purchase. So not sure why it would need declaration?

I just don't ever travel with checked bags. Looks like I will have to in the future. Just hate waiting around for a bag to slug it's way around a conveyor belt.
I would suggest you put the cue in a cue case then inside your luggage. Honestly nothing is truly safe once it is in the hands of strangers.

That’s why lots of folks have an inexpensive cue for traveling purposes.

Hope you have safe travels!

Kind of want to know who beat someone up with a cue and had them banned lol
So pool cues are not banned because something actually happened with one.

They are banned because the Flight Attendants Union specifically called them out on a list of 20 or so items that they wanted to be banned in carry-on as part of union contract negotiations.

So next time you're walking through an airport or sitting in your window seat watching the ground crew chuck bags with reckless abandon just sweating the cue in your checked baggage you can thank your Flight Monkey...

Noted. That's what I will be doing then! Thanks for the advice

I remember they were going to change the law and allow pool cues and some other items as carry ons maybe 10 years a go. One of the items they were going to allow was pen knives. Congress didn’t like that and instead of taking pen knives out they voted no 🙄

but you can carry a fixed blade under a certain length right? Which I find pretty retarded.

No, you cannot carry any edged weapon in a US airport past the TSA security check.
Maybe that's specific to the US? I know that you guys are a little more precious than most places. It's similar to lighters, I once bought a really nice lighter, and was able to fly out of China with it, but it was confiscated on a lay-over when going through security for my next destination.

The funniest inconsistency I've encountered was with fly fishing equipment. Flew into Costa Rica with my rods and reels in my carry on. Flying back I get stopped at the security checkpoint, and after an animated conversation I come to understand the security guy is not going to let me on with the fly line. Once we figured it out, he pulled all the line off my reels and sent me on my way. I looked later. Sure enough, it is a law in Costa Rica that you can't take any cordage on an airplane under the logic you might use it to restrain someone. Weird...

Go for it champ.

Let us know whether your mother shows up to pay your bail or not.

I went through JFK leaving to go PI.
Airport inspected my luggage, it had wrapped gift, the magic 8ball,

As soon as I said it was an 8ball, he flagged it.

Then I gave testimony and permitted me through.

The hack is they never inspected the fluid in the magic 8 ball.

Clean in and clean out.

As for the cue it was not lead, so the concealment was not flagged either.

Only Jay has interesting stories here.
