Mottey
Hercek
Tascarella
another Scruggs!
Murray Tucker

Couldn't name just 2.:p Have nothing against Klein and DZ but they would be listed down in the 4th paragraph somewhere.

So wait. You mean to say that out of every cuemaker out there who makes beautiful, top notch, incredible playing cues, your pipcks would be Bob Dzuricky (sp?) and Micky Stacy?!?!?!?! All I can say is.... wow. (And not in a good way).

hey, if you wanna play with something else, by all means...do, but this is the only answer you picked out? so...xidica's answer of Steve Klein's cues is fine, though huh? you amaze me. you guys find nothing more interesting than busting MY balls about every frickin thing while someone else can mention pretty much the same thing, and get away with it!  its no wonder the really good players don't come here and post or even read...some of you guys here are just ***holes...and you seem to be the leader of the pack!! both of MY choices make EXCELLENT cues. just cause they don't have so-called "collector value" means nothing to me...uhh, I'll even tell ya' what...you get whatever "collector" worthy cue you want and come play me with my "junk" cues and lets see who can win? I'll guarantee you won't like the outcome...and yes, we can play for money, no problem there! some of you guys simply amaze me with your thinking of "if its not a Scruggs, Gina, southwest, etc...its NO GOOD!!!" those names I just said are accomplished cuemakers who have been doing this for a long time, and should have NO bearing on the "up-and-coming" cuemakers of the future...but I guess your mind is as closed as most. I'm done arguing with you over this, you have no basis for comparison anyways and are not open to anyone's cue except the "big name" guys...so pay a fortune for something you can get for 1/3 of the price without a "name" on it...leave me alone, you're confused!!

now, I never named my first pick in this thread...what ever would make you think he's my first choice? lol

I'm sorry, didnt you ask for peoples OPINION about what cues they liked and why? I for one never criticized anyones choices. I simply answered the question that was proposed in the thread. If you are afraid to hear other people's opinions, then you should be careful what you ask them. And, I will take you up on your offer to play some.

well, someone's choice IS their choice after all. I'm glad you did answer my question without being rude about it...some of these guys just can't do this. if you wanna play, let me know when you come to town and we'll match up...no problem. ttyl, Jeff

oh, there were alot of people's "choices" of what they'd like to use, but not all of them had a reason why. why is that? my question was what AND why...not just what.

mottey - love his cues. on the verge of getting one... putting the beans together

gina cues - love the design and the sheer amount of work and craftmanship into the cue - just too much beans to put together for me... my wife will axe me..

i finally got my s/p back from eric crisp (sugartree cues) and i dont think i want to shoot with any other cue ever again, well maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration but his work is flawless. i think its time to sell the frey and shoot exclusively with sugartree cues. :D

In this order for me... I know that I am picking more than 2, but who cares..

Ron Haley
Joel Hercek
Dennis Searing
Bill Schick

I could go on but I will go with these for now..

> Are we talking about brand new unplayed cues as if we ordered them,or existing cues? Existing cues,I'd take the Mike Sigel Joss/Kersenbrock set that John Wright had for sale,or Si's Searing with a linen wrap. If I was going to order 2 cues,it would be a one-off Searing,Schon,or Black Boar, but I would consider probably 25 others. Tommy D.

I would like to add a Gina, and McWorther to my Collection. Expensive ones that I could never afford unless I hit it rich....

wrong answers

ok, I guess my "what and why" question isn't good enough due to all the "just WHAT" answers...so I'll rephrase that. I have an idea as to what you guys would buy cause of the resale value...I get it, but I'm talking about PLAYING CUES. which cue do you think plays well enough to use daily, and why is it like that? feedback, response of shaft, solid hit, etc...I'm looking for REAL answers here guys, not just "cause I like them". answers like the ones I'm getting are doing me no good...I want to know an honest reason as to WHY you'd pick what you would, and resale value means nothing...its all about playability in this thread for me. so c'mon, give me better answers guys

Does it have to be affordable?
Is it only a dream cue or some realistically cue we can afford?
If we could, we'd already have it.
If we found it, we won't be need to be buying another one.
You mights as well take a poll who makes the best hitting cue.
At least that's a more concrete question.

You see??? Wasn't that much easier than getting all hot under the collar Duke? You asked a simple question to which I responded. Sure, I responded with a degree of sarcasm but hey! That's just me! The same way you post repeatedly how so many of us on this site are cue snobs! That's your opinion. And I think playing with a DZ cue is foolish if you could have a cue by ANY cuemaker in the world. That's my opinion. Both of us are entitled to our opinions and we're also entitled to disagree with one another too.

Now, that being said, allow me to justify my sarcastic response earlier on. You inquired as to who people would choose if they could only own cues by two cuemakers. You did not specify whether this was based on design, craftsmanship, playability, or collectability. So, I assumed you wanted to include all of those factors. And, I gotta be hosest here, I think that 95% of the members of this forum would choose DPK or Jerry Franklin or Dennis Searing, Barry Szamboti (I could keep going...). Each has better designs, better craftsmanship, and a reputation for better playing cues.

As a result, I was shocked by your answer. I expressed that. If you wish to respond by calling me an a** hole, that's fine. I'm not offended. I'll simply sit back and enjoy reading your humorous posts for a long time to come!

I got your dream PLAYING cue here, Egyptian king.:)

Jeff, it sounds like you are wanting us to describe how the cue hits, and that is not possible because HIT is subjective. Sure...some players say their cue hits "a ton'', "like a cannon", "has a monster hit", and etc., etc.

So, when I say my preference is Hercek and Haley, I mean that they have the hit I like. I also own cues by Schick, Josswest, Mottey, Cognoscenti, Drexler, Bender, and Lambros. They all are great hitters, but some are fancy, and I seldom do more than get them out now and then and hit a few balls. If I played with each of them equally, my first choice might change, but I doubt it.

As an example I have a Drexler ebony Titlist conversion, that is one of the very best hitting cues I have ever had my hands on. But the cue is just too nice to play with.
