I'll go against the grain and take Santos in a close one. He is the underdog, but just say I have a hunch. I like Santos and I like him in a Race situation, where he is comfortable. The pressure of a tight match could work against him but after watching Chavez battle Jason in Louisville, I can see he's not bulletproof.

since ive seen this dude play that is the first ahead set ive heard about him playing in.. maybe its cuz he is a bit older and didnt have the stamina for an 8 hour match ? race to 21 i have to like chavez.

"There is no way of knowing if any business is going on". With that being said, Santos is the favorite in my opinion. FWIW. Been wrong so many times in my life, Santos probably won't win a game.:rolleyes:

yes, Santos refused to put up the money last night, and proposed going tonight and just matching up with whatever suited his fancy to the tune of 1500 or 2000, or something like that. Chavez insisted on a deposit prior to the match and I believe on the original sum, which people say was 5000. So depending on how you look at it, Santos backed out.

Now that it is cancelled, the odds it will happen are likely slightly more favorable.:)

i was on the rail when chavez played kirkwood! lost 500 chavez dosnt have the cueball santos does! kirkwood made him look bad! david g gave him all he wanted! in my opinion santos is the favorite if it ever goes down! just my 2 cents!
 
Santos can deliver the goods. Several years ago, Santos was playing with a new cue against Bobby Hunter for $5k, 9-ball, 8 ahead race. Santos ran 9 racks in a row to win.

If they play, it's on the up and up. Santos is squeaky clean.
 
When Santos is in stroke, he plays as good as anyone in the world. When he first came to the US, he played at the same poolhall as me. We became friends and he would give me lessons. I was present when he gave Jennifer Chen the 6, 7, the last two, and the breaks for $2000 a set, race to 11. He beat her both sets by a large margin, something like 11-5 and 11-4 IIRC. At the time Jennifer was ranked in the top five in the WPBA. And she didn't play bad in both sets! Santos rarely left her a shot. That was some of the best pool I've ever seen. The sad part is that with all his backers, Santos only got like $300 out of it!!! LOL.... Santos played some shots that were just ridiculous...Efren-esque, as I like to call it.

I also saw him lose a few thousand to Shannon Daulton a few years ago. Santos played horribly, and at the time Shannon was on top of his game. It was right after a tournament at the Crystal Park Casino in LA. When he plays bad, well, he plays bad (just like any pro). But if he's playin good, I would definately bet on him. IIRC I saw Chavez play once, and he impressed me. Nobody knew who he was, but he was playing jam up!

Chavez better have a strong break, because little Santos can smash the hell out of the rack!
