This man has been around for ever and still looks like he is in his 40s (maybe its those hats), i remember over 30 years ago this mans name being mention in my local pool hall when ever they talked about great pool players.

Ike is still going very strong today, the man has to be around 70 or older, but still looks the same as 30 years ago, i know a few great pool players when they hit around 60 their games just dropped in bunches, for example take Buddy Hall, Buddys no where near what he once was, but i believe all that extra weight hurt his game with getting older.

Ike still finishes high in almost any tournament he enters, and thats in all games, 9 ball mite be his weakest of all them, but i know in banks and 1pocket the man can beat anybody( iam not saying he beats everybody everytime) but they will know they are in a battle!

Hey Richie,
Buddy Hall still wins a few tournaments every week. He still plays good and still teaches pool to players who want to improve their pool game.
Not taking anything away from Ike either. Buddy still goes on the road too. He was at DCC. He told me he could not play good any more, but I watched him play and he still never has a hard shot.
How is everything going, Richie? He has been going thru some rough changes as of late. Family related. Ask Ike if he would like to play Buddy Hall some pool?
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Ike played a streamed 1-pocket match against Darren Appleton at the Derby City Classic two weeks ago. [Aside -- the 2 1/2 hour match (just 3 games) did nothing to help 1-pocket be viewed as interesting.] Anyway, one of the commentators said that Ike is 59 now.

Lock in no way was i trying to insult Mr.Hall....... Buddy is one of my all time favorite players, i believe Buddy does not play near his best speed, but there are reasons why, 1 is he is human and the others are age and weight. i was saying that most players hit that 60 mark and they lose some of what they had, so no disrespect to Buddy i love him u tooo lock!

But for what ever reason ike hasnt lost it yet, I believe one good reason Ike still plays his speed is he keeps his self in good shape, 59 i would of bet Ike was atlease in his high 60s, no matter how old he is he can still play his speed!

I'm not a friend but I see Ike at the pool hall at least once a week. If you'd told me he's 30 I'd believe you, he seriously looks like a kid. People speak of him in hushed tones - a bit of a legend. Shoots fantastic, any game.

Ike and SVB played for about 4 hours at derby city last year, race to 3, one-pocket.

Ike is a smart man, he knew his best chance against SVB was to stretch out the game and roll all the balls up table, i remember this 1 pocket match it could of went either way, SVB won the match, but he fought extra hard to get there!

Then SVB went on to win everything that the Derby City Classic had to offer except the banks (svb was 2nd to Morra)!

Ike beat SVB in the one hole tournament at Tunica last year. I don't know Ike except from watching him a few times in person at DCC/Tunica, but I would have thought he is in his late 60's.

Ike is a true competetor, he seems to be able to find another gear when he truly wants too. Feel free to see him play next month at Chalk It Up billiards pool hall in Manteno. Tourney is March 9 and he should be one of the favorites. Hope to see you their Richey, I know that it's going to draw out some of Ike caliber players to include Mr. Bandy and Mr. Sergant to name a couple.

So, there's Ike Runnels, and Ike Runnels jr., right? I played with Ike Runnels Jr. (I think) in the 2005 U.S. Open 1 pocket. He played great and was a class act in the face of some stressful events. We hung out a bit, and I would have put him at 30-35 years old. Maybe I'm wrong, but there's no way I'd figure him for 60+. Maybe I'm way off, but I don't think so.

Just to confirm what others have said, Ike is right around 60 and still looks and plays like a much younger man. Without question he is truly a great all around player. No real weaknesses on any size table or any game. Got more heart than most players and never, ever gives up. You could tell me he played any player, ever, at any game and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised when you said that he won.

Ike can Play!

Hey Richie, no need to apologize for comparing Ike to Buddy, Its fair based on thier age. If Buddy lost 100LB's he would still play a strong game, but thats a 100lbs from now.

Ike will play Buddy One Pocket or Banks anytime I'm sure! Ike is a player, he was not Buddy's speed in thier prime, but that was then, this is now.

Thanks for your input King, Lock must of just misunderstood of what i ment, i wasnt not trying to compare anyone, i was using Buddy as an example for what i was talking about, not at all comparing their games, most players at around 60 years of age tend to lose their speed, as with Ike that isnt so and i think most of it has to be with ones condition and health ofcourse. Ike looks like a very fit and healthy man for as long as hes been around!

iam just thinking that this is the main reason why Ike still plays pool at 60 years of age at a very high level!
