I'll chop 'em up!

There are a lot of new members to AzBilliards that have joined in September 2013.

I'm definitely not a fan of Earl's behavior, but I made this patriotic montage since I noticed the similarity when I saw the pic on the right in the Washington Post today.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! I love that! :grin-loving:

ETA: Oh, Steve, I was thinking about you the other day. Again, I did a job about beetles, this time Mountain Pine beetles and Colorado fires, I think.

Nothing better than December, the holiday season, and this year will be a great one for the Mosconi Cup in Vegas. Bells will be ringing!

Earl will be smiling again! He's hitting 'em strong right now. Make no mistake about it. He's in a good spot in his life. In fact, I see Earl rising to the top of the U.S. Open 9-Ball this year.

I respect your pick for The Pearl, JAM, but I truly don't agree.

We must remember, if you were at your job, and you had a meeting to decide who will go on a business trip to represent your company on your new product how would you decide who goes?

Obviously everyone who might be vetted would be qualified to go. But those eventually chosen should be those workers who have proven themselves over a LONG period of time; not just based on recent results. One of the criteria would be a worker who would act professional and show good face for the company.

The Pearl is too unpredictable and could hurt the rest of the team in terms of team spirit. I don't care about ratings and this concern about losing viewership on account of one individual seems selfish on our part.

I said it before, as The Pearl gets older and eventually "mellows" people will begin to forget about all his terrible antics he has done. I don't hate him, and I will respect him (at the pool table), but when it comes to a person representing us in a prestigious event (one in which he has already proven himself not mature/suited for) like the Mosconi Cup I SAY NO WAY. We can win without this player.

I appreciate your comments. :)

That said, pool needs a personality and emotion, and that is what Earl brings to the table.

Nobody wants to watch robots play with no emotion. :o

The Mosconi Cup is all about emotion. Look at the Brits singing to their players, the Indians banging their drums when Raj and Amar come out like rock stars to the pit, the Euros blowing airhorns and stomping their feet, screaming at the top of their lungs.

Yes, I want Earl there, more than ever, representing USA. :grin-square:

Nice post girl!

I hope the powers-that-be get a nice uniform this year for Team USA. I'd love to have an Ed Hardy-type design on the vests, jackets, or hats worn by Team USA. :p

They need to start working on this now, not wait until December to come with what they're going to wear. It must be cool!

If this is done right, imagine the sales from Mosconi Cup clothing with this kind of design. People will gobble it up like hotcakes.

Re:the bolder, I thought you said a nice uniform?

A uniform with an American-type theme.

While all those Euros are blowing their airhorns and stomping their feet, I just might have to bring my banjo to Vegas and play Foggy Mountain Breakdown when the Americans march out in the pit ---> HERE

I do not like or care for Earl's long and storied history of antics and I feel that those actions often put us into the "ugly Americans" light BUT... How do you leave him off the team. This is the 20th anniversary of the MC and he has been a pillar of American pool forever. What is really exciting about this years line up isn't so much who should or shouldn't be in the lineup but the PASSION that IS this years team. There might be better players out there right now but can you think of anyone better than that 5 on the team that you would want crawl into a fox hole with.

I am with Jam on this one, a little passion and personality is what is needed in pool right now and this team certainly has the firepower and the fire to at least compete on an epic level and certainly could win it outright. I will take 5 guys with stones over 5 guys with qualifying points any day. I say put Earl on the team and just turn these guys loose to man up and get in the pit.

I heard that Larry Chiborak is team Captain this year.

Its not as if he is doing anything at the moment.

Yeah, the fans will try their hardest to get Earl going. But this is Vegas and there won't be as many from Europe visiting. The American fans will shut them down pretty quick.

I believe that they will take the chance of some of Earls antics in order to have a winning team and its looking that they have what it takes.

Earl is going to be a huge asset to the Mosconi Cup Team.

How many other sports teams put up with more from some of their star players in order to have a great team. Earl is a drop in the bucket compared to
how some of the other sports celebs act out.

I have also come to have a great amount of respect for the Hatchet Man. If you watch his antics, he is the strong one that keeps the team Spirit going.
Another big asset for the team.

I almost hope America wins this time. The gloating will be terrific.

Poor lil America, with only a few million players to choose from, bravely overcoming a few snooker rejects from Europe, with nothing more than vast resources and decades of history and tradition to draw upon.

Heroes, one and all.

Not everybody feels the way you describe about about Earl, I'm happy to say. In fact, Earl has more fans than you might know. He probably has the biggest following on FB than any other pool player in the world. He travels the globe putting on exhibitions even today. People like Earl.

In fact, as evidenced at his recent Turning Stone triumph, the majority of the spectators surrounded Earl's table. He's a spectator magnet. Love him or hate him, EVERYBODY tunes in to watch Earl.

Personality and emotion is what pool needs. Earl has both. :grin-square:

Oh, and needless to say, Earl Strickland still has game.

Agreed 100%.... I would rather watch him than any other player

Earl has always had a huge following!! The dude can just flat out play. He is in his 50's and is still snapping off big tournaments!! How can you not respect that kind of talent. If he can keep his head on straight for the Mosconi Cup, and not bring in any negative energy, I believe he can help the team win...Hatch vibrates with a real positive energy and knows how to fire up a team!! He understands team concept and what it takes to win. I'm excited for this years Mosconi Cup...

I'm not big on flag type uniforms....if anything, they're demeaning to the flag and the person
wearing it....makes them look like a court jester, IMO.

Now, if they were to all dress up like John Wayne....I would love it!
....know what I'm saying', pilgrim?

makes them look like a court jester, IMO.

You're 100% correct. Black dress slacks or casuals and they make so many nice pool polos these days, thats all you need to look professional.

A small American flag with team USA on your breast pocket.
