I'm looking for a low deflection wood shaft

that has a Pro Taper and is 12mm to 12.25mm.

I checked out the Tiger LD but didn't like the 12.5mm size and the Tiger Pro but can't even use the conical taper, not liking the conical taper and hybrid conical taper.

Meucci has a Pro Shaft with a pro taper that you can get from 11.75mm to 13mm according to Meucci. My concern would be if how much, if any, the low deflection would change with the size of the shaft.

If anyone knows of a low deflection wood shaft that comes standard with a Pro Taper and is 12mm to 12.25mm, please point me in the right direction.

peace

Seyberts offers tapering. Id talk to them about the process as far as taper length. They might know which shafts can go that thin. 314 shafts cannot but maybe Tigers or Mezz can, for instance.

Otherwise Bob Danielson or Jacoby can make a shaft at your preferred size.

You can turn most solid maple shafts into relatively low deflection by removing the ferrule, putting on a 1/16-inch pad and then gluing a tip on. Not as low as the engineered shafts, but pretty good. You have to be more careful with your chalking or you'll get an hour-glass shape in the end of your shaft. If you put a blue line around your ferrule, don't.

You could try this on a spare shaft that's not a favorite.

Seyberts will turn down a shaft for you. The last 314-3 shafts I had the turn down too 12.5. I’ve had predators turned down to 12.25 buy cue makers. I don’t know what the current minimum spec is.

What Bob Jewett said - "low deflection by removing the ferrule". Chuck Starkey makes shafts that way. They are very low defection.

Seyberts should be able to take a Jacoby Ultra down from it's 12.75 to 12.25. Their Ultra is a fantastic shaft. I think they also make a 11.8 that wouldn't need to be turned down.

Seybert's will turn down the 314-3 to 12.3mm. Anytime they turn down a shaft, you're not able to return it since it's been customized. I know Predator only sells this shaft at 12.75mm, not sure, if any, if that makes the shaft weaker and changes the LD on the shaft...

I bought a Z3 S tuned predator shaft that is the absolute nuts. Seyberts takes a Z3 blank and makes it a pro taper. I think it's either 11.85 or 12. For how thin it is it's not whippy at all and mine is a 30 incher. Real good feel and sound also.

You might also consider a Mezz EX pro shaft, they are 12.4 mm at the tip. Wood shaft with a carbon fiber core. The feel of wood with low deflection of carbon fiber.

I bought one 30 inches with 3/8 x 10 flat faced joint. Put it on an old Jerry Olivier butt and love it. Suits me just fine!

I have a ferrules Starkey at 12.5mm. It is definitely low deflection. Not as low as Revo, but pretty darn good.

Pay no mind to all the snake oil salesmen and just get a nice carom cue; I hardly ever use my pool cues anymore since I began playing with one. Not only are they made for the much heavier carom balls, the steeper taper along with the wood joint make a BIG difference in my opinion.

Still researching, so far I've got Meucci "The Pro" which would be 12.25mm and the Predator 314-3 which would be 12.30mm.

Not sure of the price yet on the Meucci, but the 314-3 is $394 before taxes.
