I just read on the home page that efren is not at the open this year. I have been looking forward to this for two months. Ever since i started playing Ive wanted to meet him, hell i just wanna see hi play in person. im sad, mad, and dissapointed. This was probably once in a lifetime for me. I cant afford to go to any tourneys that are far away. I wanted his autograph, a picture and most importantly a handshake from the greatest pool player of all time. WWHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYY????????
 
Well, Efren just won 500,000 big ones in Reno, then he went home for a few days before embarking on another trip to an Asia tournament, which I believe he also won. The man has made a lot of coin in the past year or so, and has been traveling a lot. He probably figures it's time for a vacation, and I don't blame him.

On the flip side, I understand you're disappointed. Perhaps you'll just have to save up for your own nice vacation to see Efren at another tournament.

Don't worry, you've got Fast Larry to do all the magic that you will miss from Efren.
 
In a pool room in Macon Ga, I ran into Efran and Bustamante....and I have never witnessed anything as gross as those 2 devouring a plate of hot wings. It was like 2 wolves eating a fallen deer.

I've had breakfast and dinner with Efren.
Sure, he uses his bare hands to eat ( customary in the Philippines ) but he's not a pig.
I saw one fat pro who really looks and eats like a pig.
A mountain plate full of crap he ate on one sitting.
At least 2,000 calories of crap with ranch dressing on top.
Now he can't play a lick because he's always belly-hooked.
 
could the absence of all of these major players be the begining of the ipt taking over? with all the cash being won could all the top players eventually stop caring about all the "smalller" tourneys?

Or could it be that Efren and the rest are just fed up with american pool and also not getting paid. Someone posted that he was shocked at the amount of taxes witheld after his win in the KOTH tournament. Whatever the reason, i know that Souquet and Hohman and Feijen are/were already commited to play in Poland this week. i am sure that those 3 would love to be here. But they are men of their word and their committments....And did'nt someone also post that Archer stated that if the IPT was a success he would not play in any more small tournaments like this..as if this was small. maybe in money but not stature.....just rambling on again.....................mike

I know that's probably the case for Marlon and Thorsten.

I don't think it's the same case for Efren and Django. I think it's just due to the fact the Efren and Bustamante are based mostly in the Philippines. In the past 3-4 months, they've been to at least 4 countries(twice in the US) competing. They are probably trying to rest now for the WPC (Philippines had the worst showing in 2005). Efren already skipped the Bali, Indonesia tournament which he gets paid if he just showed.
