I'm not easily offended, but this is stupid IMO

can't believe this thread lasted this long without someone mentioning the rock group Anthrax. :D

hey, the disease anthrax has been killing cows and others for millenia. if predator wants to call it's sticks "hoof & mouth disease", that suits me ! :p

carrying a deck of "PC" cards to throw down and play indignant gets old after a while. right here tonight I'm calling for an immediate cease fire on the "PC" front. let's everybody grow up and get over it. grow a thicker skin or wear a "body condom".

The problem with a body condom is that people will call the wearer a scumbag! :D

Not to nit pick but I'm pretty sure you put an extra "s" on the front there :D

Read my first post....

although there are quite a few folks that "get offended" by some very minor things; it seems that they aren't offended by things that seem worse (to me). My Grandpa's brother died in the Pearl Harbor attack, and a big percentage of the population has no problem with Mitsubishi cars (or even TVs). Maybe because they have names like Galant, Montero, etc. If their new SUV crossover was named Kamikaze (SP?) that might raise a few eyebrows; maybe not. Mitsubishi is a company that made products that DID kill Americans - Predator Group (???) named a line of cues after poisons...I dunno, I couldn't care less if I had a cue named radioactive fallout, as long as I liked it and made balls with it (asuming it wasn't desiged and manfuctured by Mitsubishi)...

They can call it anything they want to as long as they don't call it mohammed. Call it mohammed and they will have thousands of wackos out in the streets waving swords around wanting to lop their heads off!

Hu

Very true, although both sentiments arise from the same whacky place. The cue is a POS, its name is unfortunately lame but to suggest some insensitivity towards americans is hyperbole and probably more lame.

Might be best to leave it at home when you play in The Hiroshima 9 ball Open though:)

Maybe they are trying the market over in Iraq?

The only bigger marketing mistake than that would have been to appoint "Chemical Ali" as the sales rep there:)

lame gimmick, but not offensive particularly. There's bands named Poison and Anthrax. There's a movie named bloodsport. There's skateboards named arsenic.

Alstl, you probably know it's not intended to remind anyone of the 2001 attacks. Maybe they figured 6 years was enough time for a hot word to cool down. Before 2001 it was a word associated with stupid hair metal and cows. Maybe in 2020 sarin gas will be unheard of again and in 2050 9/11 will just be the number you dial for emergencies again.

Or maybe you're right and they're just stupid and didn't even consider the attacks when naming it, and they'd take it back if they realized...

look forward to meeting you at hollywood one of these nights ........

Great post by AZE.

Don't forget the Porsche 911. I don't think anyone's asking them to change the name of that car. I certainly hope not at least.

I find it interesting that so many are annoyed about the name of this cue, when the thread about the "cue to die for" had only a couple of replies, IIRC. I guess promoting murder of a certain group doesn't bother people when they're not in that group.

Cuebacca <--- not in that group (not that there's anything wrong with that :o)
