I'm Sick of eBay Sellers Who...

Get real! I have been selling and buyiing on ebay since 1998. I bought and sold alot the stuff. I have sold many high ends cues, cue cases. I have over 2000 transaction my feedback is 99.5% positive., so I know what it takes to buy and sell without getting a heart attack over someone ending a auction. If a seller chooses to pull an item they have the right to do so. The seller has not entered into a contract to sell unless the item is acutally sold to a buyer. This list you of seller you are going to post on Az of certain sellers. What are you the ebay or Az police? Get over it and move on, a buyer has the right to retract abid at any time, a seller can end a auction any time. That is the way it is, don't like it. STAY OUT OF THE EBAY AUCTION SITE.
That way you don't get your self alll upset , life is too short for this type of BS
Regards
Dave!

ridewiththewind,

Exactly my point, ebay allow you to make changes to your auction until the 12 hour mark or until some bid on your item, so it's not a real auction house.

Why don't bidders just wait until the auction is locked in to start the bidding?

Duc.

What happens if the item is stolen or damaged while being listed, can the ebayer cancel the listing? Is that acceptable?

Richard

Dave, I can't agree more with you comments!!!:)

Life is really too short...but it nice to have a hobby like a game of pool to make it feel longer.

Tell me how you REALLY feel there, Dave. It used to be darn near impossible to either end an auction early, or retract a bid!! It used to be very straight forward. In more recent years eBay's fees have gotten larger, and their policies more lax.

Has it ever occured to you that eBay's currently lax policies have not only allowed you to end auctions early, but have also allowed for some of the highest incidences of fraudulent activity ever seen there?!

You reap what you sow.

Yup.
They end the auction.
Then get back to you saying the local deal did not go thru.
Send me your money ( your last bid amount ).
They'll sucker all those who made bids.

Hi Richard,

And the answer is yes...it used to be one of the only reasons to end an auction early...apparently not anymore tho'. I guess up until the 12 hour mark, you can pretty much do what you want...or maybe after that even.;)

Ebay used to be fun, and pretty friendly...you used to be able to find some pretty nifty things there...not so much the case anymore. More like playing Russian Roulette...you know a 'disappointment' is coming, you just don't know when.

The scam exists .. but it's not by the seller.

~~~You have it backwards.~~~ It was much easier to do anything you wanted when I started selling and buying in 1998. It was like the old west anything goes. Today it is much toughter to do much of anthing, they (ebay) monitor everything a seller does. I have friend who works for ebay in San Jose Ca. They (ebay) keep data on all buyers and sellers. So when you say ebay is more lax now than in the past you have it reversed. Again I say, stay out the pool, (ebay) if you don't like the tempature of the water. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!
Thank you Dave
Well, I have been on since 1999, and MY experience buying and selling have been the complete opposite of yours. Does either one of our separate experiences qualify either one of us more than the other to our opinion? NO!
We have to agree to disagree...pretty simple.:)
changing times
I think the main issue with Ebay is that it is evolving. New people are coming into the Ebay market place that are not experienced. New people are coming there that are scammers. Then you have old timers that are figuring new ways to get around the rules or use loopholes to increase thier profits. Ebay has to keep adjusting to some of these people and all the while keep the site fun and interesting and most of all profitable.
When Ebay first started. You mostly had people with above average income, above average morals/ethics, and above average education level. This is because they were the only ones that could afford a computer, internet access, and had the knowledge to use it. As it "evolved" into the masses the average income level, ethics level, and education level dropped. These factors have changed the base of customer you are dealing with. The "good ole days" are gone forever. You just have to adjust, learn and "evolve" to keep yourself profitable now. Just me and my lonely opinion here. ;)
E-Bay - Sleaze-Bay - Cheese-Bay or whatever you want to call it has gone down hill lately.
Just in the last couple of weeks I had an item disapear that I bid on, another item I bid on the seller was banned by e-bay but the item was relisted by the same banned person the next day then withdrawn the day after that, and the next item made it to the end but the sellers paypal address had been removed by yahoo then there has been no resonse from 4 e-bay messages sent.
Out of all of the years I have been on e-bay I have never even had 1 of these problems before. They need to revamp the cancel auction rule big time.
Just don't bother listing it if the item is up for sale elsewhere or set a reserve that you can live with. What some people think is a highly valued item may only be valuable to the owner, but my time is worth more than both.
Also AZ and E-Bay don't belong in the same bed........................
My .02 and rant for the day.
:(
Me personally I don't bid until the last 15 secs of the auction. Why jack up the price when you don't have to? If they are too cheap to put up a reserve, but still want a certain price for their item then they deserve to get whatever price it goes for. But you know they are going to be a nit and pull the auction early. (They want there cake and eat it too) Hence one of the reasons I dont bid till the end. If they pull it, no sweat off my back. Hey, I can be a nit too... :D
I have never understood why people bid two minutes after the auction starts. If everyone waited until the las few minutes then they could get the item alot cheaper. I understand some bid early with a high max bid because they wont be around at auction end but that is not the case for most I would bet........
Sounds like we do what we do to get the best price as a buyer and the seller s do what they do (pull the listing, off eBay sale, best offer and etc.) to get the best price as a seller.
I'm not bothered if they pull the listing. If I really like/want the cue and trust the seller, I ask them for a price to end the auction.
I AGREE! IT IS THAT SIMPLE!
Lisa,
I try only to bid on items at the last few minutes or on a "buy now." I know how it is, I have looked forward to bidding on an item and then it gets pulled by a local sale.
I have been known to contact the seller within the first hour and offer them a quick sale off ebay at the buy now price. I know, it maybe not safe but I always follow-up with a paypal transaction to make me sleep a little better at night..... :eek:
I can think of one item in the past that had a buy now on it. After six month it came around again. It is in a safe place now. :D
I am currently watching 9 items on ebay. None of them have to do with cues or pool. Its the holidays and I can't always think about myself?
It's great to know that AZmembers are playing nice again...it must be the holiday season:). I figure I would have gotten 20++ "I won't buy from you" post from the usual critic gang.
Anyway, this post give me some confidence back in the Azbilliard community.
Happy holidays everyone!!
Duc.
