I'm sick of these sayings. If I hear them just once more.....

'Stick' I hate it when people ask 'what kind of stick ya' shootin' with'
I don't use a stick I use a cue, I know cue is short for cue stick but either call is a cue or a cue stick not a 'stick' sticks fall from trees.

Don't hear this much anymore but in the 90's everything was 'on the snap'
when did the break become the snap? I have been known to snap but it has nothing to do with my break.

'sucking back the cue ball' referring to a draw shot, please don't use the words 'suck' and 'ball' in the same sentence in my presence, enough said.
 
Not necessarily a saying, but ANYONE twirling a cue like Tom Cruise. You should automatically have a glass rod inserted into your Johnson and broken, for doing this.

When they miss position badly and get hooked they point to where the cue ball should have stopped then they say that's not what I wanted. I'm thinking "really?

I know these aren't pool phrases but they still get to me...

I could care less - That means you care and are willing to do it less...though "I couldn't care less" means you don't care at all, which is usually the intent to be conveyed

irregardless - THERE'S NO SUCH WORD!!!!

I think the main thing here is that most of you are just angry people needing to vent. I detect a lot of anger in your posts people. Did some one "hand it to you" on the table? "mop the floor with you"? And now you just need to vent?

But here is actualy a really good saying-

I would like to see it from your point of view but I can't get me head that far up my ass.

not a saying but, why does everyone always touch the spot with their stick that they wanted the cue ball to end up? LOL (so we are sure of how bad they hit it?)

"buckets" ( why not just say "this table has 5" pockets"?)

"this is shag carpet" (why keep complaining about what everyone knows about the felt?)

People that say something is "the nuts" to non pool people. (do they really know what you're talking about?)

i've said that and never been a smartass. he did what i should have done. it was a nice out. doesn't matter he had ball in hand or not he obviously did it better than i could.
 
"He moves like a GHOST". Having never seen a ghost move, I would replace with "He moves like a gopher". For those of you who have engaged in "Caddyshack" gopher wars, you'll appreciate the accuracy of this phrase.
"I busted him and gave him a WALKING STICK, then I gave the guy who steered me some JELLY". I would not recommend giving a pool player you just busted a stick, but I guess if you can buy off a confederate with Smuckers, it's a good move.
"He shot me into a COMA". While I kinda like this one if used appropriately, it's usually used by a player that plays in a coma 99% of the time.
Normally used by British/Canadian commentators: "That was a great BREAKOFF and he can now POT all of the balls". Crikey.
"OK, gang, the WINDOW IS OPEN". Do you really want to compare yourself to a racetrack or sportsbook, where the bettor always gets the worst of it?
Sayings I like:
After a player makes a particularly brutal error: "That was a VALIUM effort".
Playing below his speed, a player looks at his cue and says "Where's the on switch for this thing?"
One of Amarillo Slim's favorites: "Man, these young kids are stronger than Aunt Ethel's breath".
