I'm on the downhill slide to 60yrs old so I pretty much dislike all the slang you kids use today ...but, one that sticks out in my mind is,
"play shape"
"get shape"
and any other shape phrases. Don't know why, that expression just seems ridiculous.

"It's not the arrow, it's the Indian." which has been said here so often lately I want to puke when I see it. Other than that, I really don't care. Most of these sayings have been around longer than I've been playing. I say some and hear most of them from time to time. Really don't care.
I love these sayings, every single one of them. Every gave has its jargon, its slang, its rhetoric, and this thread is full of good examples. These sayings are part of what I love about pool, and the evolution of pool terms is, at least for me, fascinating to behold.
If the game were restricted to literal descriptions of everything that occurs over a pool table, it would make the game so dull I'd probably give it up.
These sayings are a big part of what bonds pool players together.

Opponent screams "dance vanilla" while attempting to put english on the cue ball (resulting in a stop shot).
Somebody saying "justice" every time you miss.
Opponent screams "take your places girls" as the cue ball strikes the head ball during the break shot.
As you are getting robbed, you hang the nine...opponent offers "you almost had it dawg."
"Spin your rock"
"Ship it"
"Twirl it"
"Too much jizz"
"Feather it in"
"Fan it"
"Sweat this"
"I can't fade it"
Just few that come to mind
.... if you go to a poolhal ONLY to hear some of the stuff stated in this thread, you're probably the guy in the poolhall that I see that never plays, but is quick to put in his two cents in any situation. While "that guy" seems to be a necessity (not to me), he can be more than a bit annoying.....

After a miss:
"Ahh man, and look at that position I had."
Yo sphincter molecule, whitey wouldn't be there if you'da hit it right.
Dead stroke, dead punch, in the zone.
Of course, I might feel differently if I had ever been in dead stroke.:frown:
"I could beat you with a broom stick"
