I'm thinking of trading !

They're all magical! Why do people think they're some magic to certain cuemakers? If you can play a good house cue is the nuts! I get so sick & tired listening to people trying to explain the "hit" of cues. If you have a good shaft with your tip preference thats the trick. If you can play you already know that.

scruggs

if your in detroit and go to hof or plush hit me a pm and i will let ya hit some with mine, then you can decide.

I agree 100% . I'm glad someone finally said it. Right On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are all good.

I tend to like the piloted SS or piloted Ivory joints of Tim's myself. I have one for sale and just sold another. Have a peek and see if you like. In all honesty I think whatever type jointed Scruggs cue you choose that you will be very happy. He builds a very fine cue and is a wonderful gentleman as well.

IT'S ALL IN YOUR STROKE.

I currently have 12 Scruggs cues. They are all nice hitting cues. I prefer the feel and feedback of his flat faced ivory joint with a stainless steel radial pin.

These pics are from a Scruggs Cole Dixon used to own. All white is ivory, except the butt cap.

Scruggs players

Tim and Mike build some of the best playing cues on the planet.
There's nothing like the hit and feel of an ivory jointed Scruggs. Unless you happen to have and Ivory jointed Cochran too!:D

Here goes

One time Mr Mike took a Scruggs cue to a tournnament. He covered the joint and rings and butt with tape to hide what type joint it was.
He put it on a table and just asked for opinions basicly guess what joint was on the cue.The guess were everything from ivory, phenolic, sneakie, piloted and flat faced of course and sneakie.
They guessed everything. He did it to prove a point. If a cue is built solidly and you have to make a blind guess about the joint you can only do that, guess.
I too like the flat faced joints with the radial pins but Panhdlce has a ebony front piloted steel cue that hits exactly like a ivory joint cue.
Nick :)

I would buy a flat faced radial pin as well. I have had that and a couple of piloted cues and liked the flat faced cue better. If I were looking to spend $3500-4000 on a Scruggs, I would probably buy two really nice examples. My personal opinion is that alot of his higher end stuff doesn't turn very quickly if you decide the resell later unless it is a really unique cue (has gold or fancy inlayed box cues). Hope this doesn't offend anyone. You may not want to wait, but if you are truly looking for a perfectly balanced cue that feels like an extension of your arm, have them make you a true custom. Get it exact, not close.

Just found one worthy of what I was speaking of in my previous post in the gallery section posted by TRORO. He is also a great guy to deal with.

Tim's high end cues certainly have a strong market value. I have recently sold 2 new Titlist Conversion TS cues at $4500. and $3800,respectively, and the 12 Ivory Point Ebony/Red Coral cue for $6,500. Also note that I just took orders for 3 TS Phantoms at $2,100. each. That's real strong in what some call a slow cue market. It's only because of the absolute impeckable craftsmanship and playability of a fine Tim Scruggs or Mike Cochran cue can bring to one's game. JP CuesNThings.com:)

Not to hijack the thread but I completely agree. I think the whole joint debate is BS. Besides balance considerations, I dont think anyone can blindly pick out a joint/pin config. As you said, a cue build solid will be the same regardless of the joint setup.

Wow that's an excellent TS collection Cuesblues.

Great offer by Buck15 to offer a test drive of his TS in Detroit. If you don't have acces to several TS cues, I'd definately take him up on that Tommie.

Selecting a cue that looks and feels best to you is such a personal thing. Play with as many makers and brands as you can before replacing that Hercek. IMHO you can't beat the feel/balance/playability/consistent hit/craftsmanship of a Scruggs or Mike Cochran cue. There is no such thing as 1 magical cue or cuemaker but I'll never sell my two TS favorites!

I have shot with a very nice Hersheck

If you want to trade money for a mid level Scrugg call Timi 410-247-1231 or contact him TimScruggs.com. Panhdlce has a ebony nose box veneer cue that he might take $3200 for. But he might not.
Good luck
Nick :)
