It's so obviously all fake. The thing that makes me wonder is how people can really believe it is real.

They're all fake. Seasons ago I tried to watch that drag racing challenge show. First fake thing, they are at a dragstrip lined up with a chrondek xmas tree sitting right there with the ability to start the cars with an exact look at early starts ... an exact amount of handi-cap ... but no .... they use a flag.

Not only that but they handi-cap the race by having the faster car start 4 or 5 car lengths behind. Anyone who knows shit about drag racing knows that drag cars are designed and compiled to run flat out and finish the quarter mile at peak RPM .. an extra car length or two and the motor is running out of it's power band or worse.

How the hell can a true drag car be told on the site, that night, with no warning, no re-gearing, camshaft change, testing or nothing, to start 4 car lengths back. Stupid and fake. Again, especially with the chrondek starting system sitting right in front of them.

How about bidding thousands of dollars on a locked storage bin. How the hell can that be real, it's not even sensible to piss away 6 or 7 grand on a container you have no idea what is inside. How people watch this crap is beyond me.

I think the only reality show that is real is Overhaulin. Perhaps a close second might be American Pickers, but even that is all staged.

Oh, how about Pawn Stars. I don't care if somebody brings in a ray gun from a captured martian, the bald guy will give the customer a complete history of the item he has like he's a freaking univac computer, and then say he doesn't know anything about it's value so he calls in an expert and they just show up for shits and giggles. Just the most unreal reality shows, and people suck it up like it's real. ( I almost said gospel, but that's another story.)

I was without a tv for about 5 years. Bought one 1,5 years ago (for the smart tv capability) and then I remembered why I was living without it for so long..There is never anything good on. All the so called "reality" tv shows are staged and stupid, yet people believe they are real...It's bloody incredible. It is like when I found out a couple of years ago that some people on the forum could not understand perfectly obvious irony...It was shocking and disheartening. I bet you right now there are people on this very forum who don't understand that the so-called "Pro Wrestling" matches are/were staged and I don't even think the forum is a special case. It's like everybody on earth lost about 30 iq points in an instant 20 years ago. I don't remember people being this stupid when I was younger.

I wonder if this Hustler tv show can be any better than the other junk, but it is probably fair to assume it isn't. Even if it turns out that it is by far better than anything ever made in the "reality tv" field it's still worth possibly missing out, to avoid having to spend 10 more precious minutes on brain rotting garbage.

The "hustler" show isn't any better than the other shows. Nothing that would make anybody want to aspire to be a "hustler" anymore than Honey Boo Boo had parents rushing to get their little girls into pageants. That's the bottom line...it's bottom feeder stuff

I guess it depends but I did test the water with the kids the lasted about 10 minutes unless your kids have no TV no phone no computer and no video games playes no sports basicly has no life , they may find some entertainment in it other than that I don't see it

It is hard to understand. I can't watch 5 minutes of those shows but there must be a market for them. The only one I ever watched was those guys who built motorcycles, I forget the name but they got old after a while as well.

Your kidding right. When TV first came nation wide the biggest things on where wrestling and roller derby. Then people spent all their time watching game and panel shows along with soap operas. I remember when people didn't have a TV. There was maybe a few hours of programming a day.

Stores that sold TV would have them on in their windows and people would go out at night and sit on the side walks or benches the stores would set up for them and watch Milton Berle or Ed Sullivan on Sunday night. Then there were the Gillette’s Friday Night Fights. TV was amazing.

Today from the Discovery channel to the Military channel to literally dozens of channels and content that is just fantastic, TV is the best it ever has been. I can watch baseball, golf, football, live broadcasts from the other side of the world. Instant news as it is happening, live from around the world.

And I am not just saying that because I am related to John Logie Baird the inventor of TV, it is true.

The tiny amount of crap content that people are referring to does not even move the needle compared to the zillions of hours of great content that you don't have enough hours in the day to take in.

And having said that I think I will watch the Belmont Stakes now and later I was planning to put on "American Sniper" I haven't gotten around to seeing it, I may do it tonight.

That show is terrible but I think is there number 1 rated show. Lol it is nothing but ghetto scum showing why there are ghetto scum.

The promise of cable TV has not been kept. It is now for the most part nothing but trash. No matter how many Discovery and Military shows are out there, the truth is most content is aimed at people educated to an eighth grade level or less.

Even the The History Channel, once my favorite during its Hitler Channel origins, is now just a repository for hours and hours of re-runs of Pawn Stars, Ancient Aliens, UFO Stories, and American Pickers and other second-rate shows meant to pad out the time between their rare presentation of an actual historical show.

The good stuff is at the BBC, and other documentaries.

The purpose of most reality TV is to denigrate people and knock them into the dirt, that is, everyone except the final 'winner', who proudly stands on the corpses of the people they managed to somehow out-last, people who they formerly called 'team-mates.'

I watched the Hustlers last night for the first time, and did not see anything to recommend it except some pretty good pool shooting by a girl and by a double-amputee. Even Mike Dechaine didn't show much skill, though he won last night's competition. I think they could make the show a success by stressing the pool shots, the technique, and the skill needed to pull off shots and shape. In other words, a pool instruction show disguised as reality TV. But I doubt that is the way they will go - I think they will follow the usual reality format where one person has to verbally and mentally and without ethics nearly destroy every other person, just to be announced as 'the winner'.

What difference does it make how much crap there is on. That is why you have a changer. You could make the same comment about books published or movies that are released. We have free choice.

On most cable connections you have an average of 35,000 hours a week of programming. I don't know about you but I may watch TV maybe 35 hours a week. I think I can find something to watch that interests me.
