Yep the tulip is nice. And so is that bocote, i've seen some sick grain patterns, but they wouldn't hit or resonate better than the one in the pic. I'm gonna have to get me some of those :D .

Thanks,

Jon

Five out of nine ain't bad for not being a wood guru and looking at a picture.
Not bad at all.
If you got 6, I'd have made a pommelle with curly handle for you.

Hey Jon, your favorite ferrules.
Check the Pred ferrule on the left. See how thin the wood "tenon" is and the FOAM?
The other two are Mocchis. Yupped, they are now capped but the top of the tenons were nowhere near the bottom of the cap.
All three were taken off as customers upgraded to you know what ferrules.
Of course, Pred is no longer low deflection after the ferrule was replaced.
It became conventional.

I cut a predator in half lengthwise several years ago (don't ask) and I recall there was some blue foam right behind the cap of the ferrule. It was the diameter of the opening and only about 1/4 inch long. I suspect it was there to prevent the glue from the ferrule from running into the hollow area.

Is this what you found also? I can't tell from your picture.

Thanks
