In between cuts

I was curious. I know some builders on here are high production. I know others have part or full time jobs and build cues on the side.

There is only so much cutting and glueing you can do though. What do you do during in between cuts?

I have had the pleasure of being in different cue makers shops over the years. Some go in and just look at ways to inprove, even on perfection. Others use equipment they presently have to build other equipment or jigs.

What is your in between cut days like?

I am working on 8 to 10 cues at a time so I always have something I can work on. I save finishing for the last thing of the day to avoid dust.

There's always things to do. Cue rings, make billets, cut cores, cut squares to round, etc. My problem isn't finding something to do in the shop, it's finding a chunk of time where I can devote to shop time without interruption.

Repair work can be very time consuming. More often then not, if you are not full time you have more then enough to do with the hours you have to devote.
