Incredible Price for Black Boar Shaft!

BB Shaft Replacement

When I bought my BB from Tony in 2004, the joint and shaft collars are inlaid with 16 pieces of silver. He told me that a matching replacement shaft would be about $800. This is just a plain silver ring, but still seems a little expensive to me.

You guys beat me to the punchline on that auction... I am going with your detective work and in complete agreement that shill bidding is in progress... or else someone is bidding against themselves! I have actually seen that in a team event calcutta.... By MY team! Hahaha! Had to smack them around after the action was finished... Thank God we won the whole thing and took the money too!

$800? I think I just pooped my britches!

I think I could live with the plain ring for less money.... I love the silver inlays on your cue, however!

I also noticed that they have 2 bid retractions... bidders realized it was only for a shaft!

Yeah! 14mm! What am I gonna shoot with that? Bocce balls? That ferrule must be one nice hunk-o-ivory!

I would guess that the cost on DJKeys shaft is to get the silver items to match (line up) on both parts of the cue. I know that a Joss's with the gold lettering on the shaft that line-ups with the butt are more valuable (special) than the everyday ones.

These days, I would go for a single silver line or blank joint over the cost of a stitch or somekind of other inlay. I would much rather put my $$ into the butt over the shafts. But maybe this is just me

Bugs.

Is that true, about the Joss cues? Actually, from what I know about the cuemaking process... (the Hightower book)... it is not too difficult for a good craftsman to line up inlays like that....

I love stitching in the rings... I feel it gives the stick a real custom look.

I went to Todd's Cue Repair shop today Home of the "Parrot" custom cue. I was talking to guy behind the counter and told him that i would love to have a Black Boar cue. He said that it would probally almost impossible to get a new cue, and that a used one would be my best option sense some one had bought all of Tony's cue for the next 8 years..anyone else here of this..or is this just chatter..i would love to know.

(side note- the reason why i went in was to get a shaft retiped)
Its funny i bought one of the cue for sale from the Philippines 50 us dollars i did tell the guy that i was picky and alot of people would see the cue. He asked for an extra 10 days to work on the cue. When i did get the cue I was really impressed..and i have to say "all jokes aside" the damn thing hit solid..i own a parrot (DH), a Luccasi (314 shaft, and a Black dot shaft), a Viking, and the only thing that i have that measures up to the same hit is the Luccasi equiped with the 314 shaft. I mean that "ppines" as they have been dubed has just amazed me. It is an Eye grabbing cue, I am going to wait till the US open and hope Efren Reyes is there , i am going to get him to sign it since it came from his home town. Anyone else looked at these or purchased one.

When I asked Tony to make me another cue last year he told me that he could not because he had a legal agreement to send all of his work for the next 10 years (nine now) to Lucky in Japan.

i dont believe that shaft is authenic.. first of all if you look at the closeup of all the shafts the shaft that is not dirty or chalked it doesnt look the same.. the used shafts, where the piloted part of the coller is, they are wood.. with the metal on the end.. this one has a complete metal piloted section.. i dont think its real black boar shaft..

pph here is another observation....

both of the high bidders.. justojet and justojet3 whatever they are... are both from TX... if you search by seller and use those screen names.. even though they have nothing for sale.. you can tell what state they are from..

and the one below them is TXTAPA... wich looks like TXT APA mind you.. but after carefull study.. i and noticeing that , txtapa is also a texas ebay acount.. the name, i believe if broken down is.. TX TA PA .. which would indicate the person is from texas and ta is slang for to and of course.. the pa is pennsylvania... either we have un covered a conspiracy.. or this person is in deed using fake accounts..

chris<--- has too much time on his hands...

Unreal MAN!!

And I ***** about paying $400 for a used set of MIZUNO irons 2-PW!! That is 9, count them 9!! Grain flow forged irons!! Maybe I should be glad they aren't made of wood!! I would be paying close to $3600 for the set.

i was just reading the other thread about this same topic....

it seems the shaft sold.. but i am betting it was to one of his shill accounts..
