I will be in Indy Friday and would love a recommendation on where to play pool. Also always interested in meeting some AZers. Post up and let me know.

Brickyard --- only place since Chalky's closed. Indy not like back in the 60's and 70's when there was good action everywhere.

Bump in case anyone is around Friday night. I may also be available sometime Saturday.

Brickyard is the best pool hall, but...

The best place to play is the betmore basement. Try pming williebetmore.

True on the best place to play is betmores basement however he is usually indisposed from Fri-Mon due to his professional obligations.

Executive is still there.

I'ts a little run down (OK a lot run down), but the tables in the front room (3 gold crowns and a 12 foot snooker table) roll better than almost any table I have ever played on. And Table time is VERY CHEAP. Like $2.50 for the first hour (per person) and $1.50 an hour after that, or something similar.

Executive came to mind when I was reading the Earl vs Shane thread and the talk about the 10 footer. I remember there being a 10 ft table at Executive (the only one I've ever seen). I think it was an old American Snooker table converted with pool rails. Is it still there?

Think it was that when I lived in Indy 20 years ago

Executive was still there 3 years ago and has 3 nine foot gold crowns and a snooker table that are VERY well kept. Has more tables in the front section that aren't as good. The man that runs it is a very nice person and a wealth of knowledge about the "good old days" when it was a money pit, I'm talking in the late 60's and 70's. He told me that the no smoking and drinking laws put the pool halls out of business in Indy. If you just want to play I would suggest it as one of the places to visit but because of the neigherhood I would make it daytime only.

Ya it's still there and there are a few people to play. Executive is a lot of fun and yes cheaper to play at. A few good one pocket games. John Waynes south of Indy has tables and some action on Fri and Sat if you like bar tables.

Brickyard has more people to play. There are lots of bars around with tables also

I can't bend over to play as my back is totally shot, but I'd be happy to show you around.

Sounds great. I'll be there Friday evening through early Sunday. My number is 256-283-7982 if you or anyone else wants to get in touch. I play horrible but enjoy it.
