Here is a link to how some of the young guns are doing @the World Juniors in Austria.

Looks like the great WU was an early entry into the losers bracket and has fought his way down to the final eight. Of course, I am pulling for St. Louis' own Justin Bergman (this kid just hates to lose) but Jason Klatt will be a tough one to beat.

There are two juniors named Wu, and this is not the one that won the World Pool Championship. The one that won the WPC was Chia-Ching Wu (wonder if I spelled that right).

Actually, the tourney was over Saturday night. Wu won and is a very strong player. I can understand how he won last year. Justin and Jason looked to be right in the hunt and then in the final 8 their games weren't quite there. The tables played very forgivingly and I think that worked against them. Justin and Jason can compete well with the Asians but they must bring their A-game right out of the gate.

On justcueit.com there are updates for Landon's web link including some pictures. Landon had a great tournament but his seeding put him immediately against very strong players. He lost to Germany's Scmidt 9-5 and then to Hijikata 9-6 the eventual runner-up. Landon had a chance to go up 5-4 on Scmidt and could have gone 7-8 with Hijikata. I could not have been more pleased with the way Landon played.

Thanks for the info. So are you saying that Landon didn't get a very high seed? Justin got 5th-8th.

I find it interesting that instead of using the term 'BYE' the bracket uses 'Walkover'.

Yu Lun Wu is the one that beat Chia Chang Wu (WPC champ) in the juniors last year. This is two years in a row Yu Lun Wu has won the world juniors. He has the best break I have ever seen, better then Nevel or Busta or any of those monsters. He is tiny but he snaps it with a hip twist and stops the cue ball dead center of the table every time with unreal power. His stroke is conservative like a Jim Rempe type of player. He is pro level IMO and I have been surprised not to see him on the pro scene right along side Chia Chang.

We Finns were happy that our own Abbas Al-Marayati beat Germany's tough-as-nails Nicolas Otterman 9-8 only to get denied the place in the L8 in the hands of a natural talent Artem Koshevoy 8-9 in the winner side. Well, another raising Finnish star in the making finished (no pun) 9th. I heard Abbas played a difficult long bank at the hill-hill against Otterman to stay at the table and eventually running out the final balls! :D

Watchez.......Yes, Landon was(I think # 22) and that was probably about right. Landon just turned 11 and most of the field was 16 or older. Basically a 5th grader against highschoolers. Landon held up well in a tough field. The tourney was for 18 and under. Perhaps one day the event will divide for a 14 and under division......Stan
