Yesterday there was no mail because of Presidents Day. Today I received the backlog including 2 magazines from Inside Pool. The problem is both together equaled about the size of what one use to be. Some money could have been saved on mailing if there were both put into the same plastic sleeve. They may have been shipped a day apart but the holiday messed up seperate delivery. I guess that I should be elated that I finally received the Jan issue and got the Feb issue early.

I will have to save the Jan issue for next year because it showcases places to eat in Louisville. I am thinking this is for the benefit of those that attend the Derby in nearby Indiana.

Maybe I will finally get my issues as well. I have called three times and haven't gotten a return call yet.

They are thin. I have not renewed my subscription for Inside Pool magazine because of this. Not enough content for the $$$. FTR, it seems as though Billiards Digest has thinned-down a few pages in the last several months too. Could be my imagination though.

Maniac (thank God for AZB!!!)

The print media is suffering, not only in the pool world but in all facets of the print media industry. Many long-established newspapers went belly-up and filed for bankruptcy in the past 10 years. Ever since the advent of the Internet, people want their news fast. They don't want to even wait for the morning paper anymore, much less a pool magazine that comes out once a month or 10 times a year.

In order for the pool mag to get their content, people have to submit their articles, ads, tournament announcements 2 and 3 months in advance. The pool world in general doesn't seem to run on that kind of time clock, sad to say.

The Washington Post has a online presence, as an example, but their print paper is suffering because of sales. If nobody advertises in their print paper, then the Post will go belly-up. People prefer to go on the Internet to get their news. People today find out things within seconds after it happens via Facebook and Twitter.

I wish InsidePOOL all the best. They have been very generous and kind to me and mine.

I received Jan and Feb issue yesterday as well. I may not renew with Inside Pool either although if they bring back the "What's in the case" section, I would renew in a heartbeat.

Lets not forget the streams they provide for us also and the website I think all things combined its a steal they got my business.... but I would like to see whats in the case back :D

I'm one of those crazies who absolutely prefers to read things on paper. I would much rather read a newspaper than internet news, or news on tv.

Sadly I will admit to switching to internet news, but it isn't because of speed. I switched because I would open up the newspaper to find more and more tabloid type news articles. I got fed up with paying to see half the articles be about starlets gone bad.

On the other hand even though I bought 2 Kindles over the last 2 years for my fiancee' (Kindle 2 and Fire) all of the books on pool I have are in paper form and will remain that way.

*edit* Today I received February....still waiting on January.
