Smart guys know what integrity is, care about it, and are aware that all it takes is one false step to lose it.
Kind of a shame we have to take special note of it when something like this happens in our sport.

All aspects of life, not just our sport.
How many times have you asked to see someone's manager? Of those times, how many were to compliment the person's service?
I learned that a long time ago. I decided that if I ever have to complain about someone or something, I then need to balance the scales and go out of my way to compliment something. It's telling when managers are stunned to hear praise.
I have done that at Home Depot and Jerry's Home Improvement....when the staff go out of their way
for me....I let there boss know they did a great service....and yes they do seam surprised but pleased.

A bit of a cultural difference I think. Covering up your fouls etc...that shit doesn't fly in Germany or indeed most of Western Europe, I can tell you that. I wouldn't expect it to happen a lot in Japan either...
It is indeed sad when we have to make a spectacle of someone behaving like a proper sportsman, and a real MAN. But in a sport like this, we need more good examples to outweigh the bad ones. That's what the sport has come to, or has always been according to some. Still I'm glad that Thorsten did not let his country or himself down and I wish for his continuing success as a sportsman and a representative for his country. I salute him.

I have had talks with Thorsten and found him to be one of the purest players in terms of integrity and love of the sport.
This doesn't surprise me one bit.
I don't think Thorsten gets enough credit for this and what he brings to the game.
In fact, at a recent tournament, I was sitting with my 8 yr old son watching a Thorsten match, and pointed out so many examples of the sportsmanship and just over-all composure he had in the match. From his warming up practice to his body language in the chair while his opponent was at the table - it was all about respect.
