Well, to me anyway!

We were visiting my sister-in-law today & I found out that her husband is a big fan of snooker, something that had never been mentioned before. Not only that but they're currently having a new house built. A big one. She gave us the tour around the place today, I really was amazed at the size of the place. Best news is the game room, where they're putting a snooker table!! I think they're only going for a 10ft but it looked to me like a 12ft would fit in there. Wish I'd had a tape measure with me.

The house is due for completion in April & I know we're (I'm) going to have fun visiting!!!!

I don't know anything about snooker, but in the useless trivia department, I noticed that in the movie Entrapment Sean Connery's character had a snooker table in his castle.

inlaws

sounds like the only bad part is the sister inlaw. if shes like mine i wouldn"t play there if efren was giving free private lessons, well maybe then but i would have to think about it.

snooker table

I have posted enough about playing snooker helping my game that I think almost everyone knows that I am a big fan of the tables. The game itself is also highly addictive. You can play the game in a conventional manner with tight position play and have great fun or you can take advantage of the fact that banking balls often gives you the most open pocket to shoot at and helps you develop pinpoint accuracy by playing a much more freewheeling game.

When I was capable of making short and long rail bank shots on a snooker table over fifty percent of the time I was an absolute monster on the seven and eight foot bar tables. I had a very clean honest stroke when I needed it and of course shot high percentage banks. You will learn very rapidly that you need half a table between the two legs of a long bank to have any real hope of making it if the table is as tight as those I played years ago.

I haven't had a table at home for many years but if I ever have to choose one again it will be a snooker table. More fun in my opinion, more challenging, and again in my opinion, can give a game that transfers readily to other tables.

I'm envious of your in-laws and you!

Trust me, I'm very excited about this. I used to play snooker several days a week, including league. I was never the greatest at it but I could hold my own against players way above my level. My safety game was very strong, that in itself can win a frame. Sadly my highest break was only 58 (league & practice.)

The last time I played was 7 or 8 years ago. It was the day our company closed for Christmas so a few of us went on a pub crawl after lunch. We ended up at the snooker club, first time I'd been in there for 5 years or so. We decided to have a quick few games before we headed elsewhere, I managed a 50 break in the 2nd game! I couldn't believe it, apart from the odd game of pool on a Friday lunchtime I hadn't picked up a cue in years.

I'm looking forward to playing snooker again. Such a great game. I recommend everyone should try it.

Alan, thank you so much for replying. I will pass your info on, I'm sure he'll be very happy to see this! If you have any info on distributors of snooker tables in the US that will be a great help.

Thank you again,

Ade.
