I play with a predator p3 and have 3 Z2 shafts with it. 2 of the shafts ha e kamui clear black soft tips and the other has an elkmaster. I feel more confident and play better with the elkmaster tip! Any suggestions as to why this is? How do I change so I can play with better quality tips?
 
Why change? The tip that you play your best with is the better tip, even if it costs less.

Could be different tip shape, one has a nickel and one a dime curvature, make sure both are the same!
 
Why would the Kamui be of a better quality? Because each tip is substantially more than an Elkmaster? Because not many people use Elkmaster? I went through all kinds if tips but eventually found my way back to trusty Elkmaster tips. I have them on every cue and wouldn't use anything else. Ronnie O'Sullivan uses Elkmaster tips, and he is on another planet in terms of play to 99% of other professionals.

If it ain't broke don't try fix it. Why you wouldn't want to try and get used to a Kamui when you are clearly more accustomed to Elkmaster is beyond me. Save yourself lots of cash, time and effort and stick with the tip you play better with.

Who says Kamui are better quality tips? That is hogwash. They are obviously both very different tips for people with different preferences, but in no way shape or form is Kamui better "quality". More expensive tips does not equal better quality. Layered tip does not equal better quality. More popular tip does not equal better quality. Invented or developed in a more recent time period does not equal better quality.

As others have said, why on earth would you want to play with any other tip other than the one that you shoot the best with? Just makes zero sense. Play with the Elkmaster since that is what you play best with. Their quality is every bit on par with anything else out there. And to add to the names of pros using them, Corey Deuel has used them for most or all of his career.
 
Kamui tips are crap.

I tried a kamui and it left little fly specks on the cue ball from the glue between the layers. I misscued due to the glue layer between the leather layers. Kamui or any other layer tip will never be on my cue again.
 
And no 2 shafts are the same either.

Tell ya what, I have pretty much every decent quality tip in my tool box but don't have to look much further than either a Milk Dud from Pool Dawg or an Ultra Skin.

I have put certain tips on a shaft, taken them out to practice, and they have come off the next day regardless of price or supposed quality.

Play with what ever gives you your best game, and don't let the fact that one costs 50 cents and the other 20 bucks get into your head too much.

I would say, ditch the Kamui and go with either of the 2 that I mentioned.

Efren shmefren!!! He sucks!!!;) him and his 10 dollar Picasso;) anyway, play with what works!

Quick story, my friend was begging me to let him put a tip on my cue and wouldn't let him! I have my friend Mike Webb do all my work! Anyway, he kept insisting and I finally said ok, whatever go ahead. I play triangles, I don't think there is a better tip out there! But again, it's personal preference! Ok, so my friend puts on an "old" elkmaster on, told me they were his dad's, so ok, he gives me my shaft and I start banging away. Let me tell you, there has never been another tip that was able to spin the rock as much as that tip did! I kid you not, a 50% gain in spin is about what it was! No other tip in my life ever played even close to that tip:( but,,,,, it "died"!:( after about 3 weeks, I noticed my spin slowly went away and within a couple of weeks after, it played bad! I did everything to save that tip, but failed! So I put another elkmaster on(not the "old") and I wasn't happy! I have never found a tip lime that since! Oh well, my triangles work just fine:) who cares about the cost of something,,,, it's all about YOU liking it!

I used to belong to the "Tip of the Week" Club and have tried dozens of
The Greatest Tip Ever. Then, I stumbled upon SuperPro Tips ($20 for 50)
and have never looked back. I have also made "believers" of several hard
core A/AA players who now use them religiously.
Sometimes ... Cheap IS Best.
 
I use the Super Pro for Break tips. One of the best in my opinion.

They are very well made. If a person likes a Hard tip, they are the way to go.

11 Layers, perfectly constructed, holds chalk well, $2 each.
 
Just because you pay more for something, doesn't mean it is better quality. All you have to do is look at cars, some of the most expensive have the worst ratings for being reliable. Use what works, and foget what everyone else says.
