International Cue Collector Show in Las Vegas

I am looking forward to it more every day. This is the premier show for cues! If there was a monster cue you have always wanted to see this is the place you will likely get to see it in person.
And besides, it's in vegas! Do you really need more incentive to come?

That is awesome, I will try to plan a trip to check out the massive collections and drool. No better place than Vegas for me!

That hotel is not even IN Vegas. ;)

2012 International Cue collectors Show
Red Rock Resort Casino & Spa Las Vegas, Nevada
November 1-3, 2012

Neither is the Red Rock. The hotel in the post is as far East of The Strip as the Red Rock is West. Nearly a thirty minute ride from McCarren Airport to the Red Rock.

Blame the USPS. The Red Rock is actually in Summerlin, Nevada. The other mentioned hotel is east of East Las Vegas on Lake Las Vegas. If you drive another two miles east, you will arrive at Lake Mead. If you leave the Red Rock and drive two miles west, you will arrive at Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area. They are two extremes of the geography of "Las Vegas". A quick look at a recent map will be a real eye opener ! One is nearly thirty minutes East of the airport. The other nearly thirty minutes West. Regardless, either will be a great location far from the maddening crowds of The Strip.

Umm ok.

The address is Las Vegas. When asked where it is I would say Las Vegas. Extreme edge of Vegas, sure ok. But until the address says something else I'm going to go with what the Hotel prints on thier post cards. :)

I live on the extreme edge of the same situation. When asked where I live I'm the goofy odd ball there too, I use my address. :)

But if it helps you feel more secure about your post then ok, your right. Their address is not Las Vegas Nevada , Its Las Vegas Nevada.

Better now? ;)

FWIW , first thing I did when we got the invite was google map it so I am aware of it's proximity to the "strip", thanks tho.

Maybe we can get the thread back on topic now that we know where the Hotel is. :)

Again its getting to be a shame here what people here want to argue about.......next time maybe I should just let stop trying to offer info.......

Best Wishes for the Builders

My favorite thing about
Las Vegas is not having to drive. I like
having all the options for food and
entertainment that the strip and down
town have to offer with short cab rides.

Having the the show out in the boonies
is definitely a negative. Though
I do understand how others could prefer
it.

I can't wait to go and I can't wait to hear who is making Gambler Cues and see what they come up with!

Thanks Will.

I happen to be one to agree with you myself.

Jodacus,

That's is my point entirely. The option to go to "The Strip" is NOT a short cab ride. Too many people think "The Strip" is Las Vegas. As the show organizers know their clientele, the price of a long cab or limo ride to The Strip is probably not a problem financially. On the other hand, there will be attendees who are on a budget and may not realize how far from Paris, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay or Aria they really are. Learned the hard way helping to organize a car club convention at the Red Rock last year. Half the attendees flew in and did not rent a car. That became a problem once they arrived at the resort.

Actually, Summerlin is NOT a city/town in NV. Summerlin is one of the several "master planned communities like Mac Donald Ranch, Anthem, etc. I believe that part of Summerlin is within Las Vegas city limits proper.

For instance, there is no "Anthem, NV". Anthem is a master planned community in Henderson. Henderson is the actual town.

So true. I live in Sunrise Manor, NV. An actual community in Clark County.

This whole thing seems to have gotten out of hand. As I mentioned in my last post, my intention was to inform show attendees, not familiar with "Las Vegas", the relative location of the two resorts mentioned as show locations relative to "The Strip". Sorry for the unnecessary side issue :o.

It's a good point and well offered , my suggestion in the future would be to have simply stated that rather than launching an attack on the post office. :)

Well, if you don't know anyone who is making cues for the show's theme, I know one guy that probably isn't.

Kevin, I might just get a wild hair and make the trip too. Hope to see you there.

I'm not sure you are right and if he does I'm looking for one (he's a WAY better deal if he makes 2). In 50 years he's only made a few. Phil Dade has one with dominoes, not like yours, but inlaid dominoes. I think Ernie made it for Rempe. It is so different that I saw it like 10 times before I stopped calling them "dice".

In any event, I'm dragging him to the show, besides he digs Will (who doesn't?).
