IPT...a thought to ponder

CELEBRITY - KT mentioned in the speech on the site.

We all know that most of the poker players making big money outside the poker room were super-no-bodies at one point and are now making cash on their celebrity. Come on. This is no scam, it is smart move to make loads.

If it catches on, and I think it will, we all win. Yes, KT wins too, but shouldn't he for starting the darn thing.

The part that bothers me most, MARK MY WORDS, is when everyone starts getting greedy and will have forgotten when pool used to be poor.

costs of dvd production not IPT

His DVD sales won't cover his expense. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Come on, he just put over a million dollars out there. Do you think his DVD sales are going to make a dent in his losses?

Colin, are you listening? Marketing 101 about to take place here. Jaden, I did like your idea of the marketing after effects off selling more DVDs by selling them individually, which he is doing anyway.

When you put the big display up at Wal-Mart, you include a chance to win a $10,000 pool table. Say even 20 winners. Hell, KT has plenty of money, remember. But the entrants must register on a web site, get them to answer a bunch of silly questions so you can get the marketing information - you know the story. Once you get people addicted to pool, or hopefully a large number of them, then you start to approach TV. You have the registered users, those who bought your DVDs, and you have PROOF to move forward. Then to increase your viewing audience, give away pool tables to those who watch the real TV. Radio does this every day. THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. All you have to do is have frick'n common sense. The key is to start working on the young people, and then they MAKE their parents buy them a pool table, and the kids start watching live matches on TV. And the parents start watching Jennifer Baretta! Oh, I could go on, but I hope you people get the sense that there is a lot more that could be done here, especially by a man (KT) who has deep pockets.

I was talking about the cost of printing of the DVD's not the cost of producing the IPT events.

Like I said before ....

He is being scrutinized daily by thousands of people, and lol
even he knows you can not fool all of the people all of the time,
so I think his efforts on behalf of the IPT are genuine and sincere,
but yes, I am sure, he has an idea for making money, just as I would.

If you ever meet a salesman that doesn't lie or distort facts, let me know ... lol

Economic thoughts on IPT

As far as Natural Cures products marketed to Pool Players it is not very likely. But, KT can deduct from his taxes a certain portion as advertising and marketing expenses. It allows him to recover some of the start up money.

As far as the current structure and a ponzi scheme, again unlikely. The players are signing away their likeness, name and etc. in return for the tour card. If the IPT has half the success of poker, KT owns it all. Just like George Lucas and Star Wars. Harrison Ford signed that away when he signed onto the movie, just like the players when they sign onto the tour.

As far as the screen actors guild is concerned, the IPT is simular to a movie. The players are allowing KT to film and sell the production to TV networks. They have to have releases for the TV networks to air or buy the show. Members have signed releases allowing the production to use the film and sell it in any manner they deem fit. The signing of the release must be in exchange for some type or form of consideration i.e (that is) the prize money. The pay scale is based on number of appearances and if you make it to the finals your amount of air time is greater than others and requires more pay. It is an unconventional payment plan for the screen actors guild but workable.

With that established, KT can write off the players payments as a production expense since he paid the players for signing the releases. The total production cost are low given the going rate for actors. The potential return on his investment compared to the potential return on a movie is much higher. King Kong Spent 200 million making the movie and will be lucky to break even or make a little. (WPT) World Poker Tour is a billion dollar enterprise with marketing and licensing agreements worldwide. They put up very little money and had 10,000 dollar entry fees for the World Poker Tour. The producers took a 1 to 2 million dollar investment and turned it into a Billion dollar a year enterprise. NICE RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENT! If it went bust, oh well. They can write it all off as a failed business expense just like KT.

I must say the man is not stupid! If I had his kind of money I would give it a shot as well. They were trying the million dollar tournament just after the success of the WPT. Just could not get the players to pony up 10,000 entry fee and backed out and got cold feet.

Kt has it both ways with the IPT, A write off for his succcessful book and self help TV productions & a potential TV Juggernaut production company. The players are not savy business and tv licensing gurus and probably will regret having signed at some point when the dollars start rolling in and they find out their limitations contractually as other offers flow in for the players.

But, it is a push as one person said. You give a little to get a little. Both KT and the players make out on the deal its just that KT has a much BIGGER up side.
