IPT Defenders...excuses, excuses...

My Story

I met a friend of mine from HS a few weeks back. He told me he had a great job working for another HS friend that paid $26 an hour. The only problem was he hadn't been paid for 6 weeks. I told him I would give him a job making $30 an hour if he could start right away. He jumped on it like a chicken on a June bug. He said " no chit, you gonna pay me $30 an hour".
I said "hell yes, if I don't have to pay you!"
That about sums it up guys!!!

Also note that the WPA is a non profit organisation and are there for the players, unlike Kt who is doing this to line his silver pockets. But as soon as he realizes it aint gonna happen he will just close up shop and try another venture.

The WPA is non profit, yeah sure just like the Red Cross, they only do it out the kindness of their hearts, what did the last president of the red cross leave with....oh about 1.9 million:D Non profits are very sketchy and it's hard sometimes to shed light on the real facts.

I love these non profits, sure we need them and don't get me wrong some are run and administered great, really kind and helpful people, but many of the times they get filled with greedy corporate types who mostly look out for #1.

Oh only if the BCA had truly been run as a non profit and "for the players" but alas the board filled up with business owners and no players at all, (it's just a glorified trade association) even the Olympic committee laughed at that one, and said they needed players on the board.

I'm not here saying KT is only looking out for the players, clearly he is not, and that's not always a bad thing, but to say the WPA or even the BCA is some goody goody organizations only there to help the players is a huge joke! The BCA stole pool from the players from the inside out, it could have been a great organization like the PGA, but nope, it's a joke, The WPA scares the bajeebers out of me, more so then the IPT.

To say the WPA is only out to help pool grow, is just as bad as saying the IPT is only trying to help the players, only the IPT has the balls to make a real effort to make pool what it could be, a non profit is not going to put up more money it doesn't take in. KT has put out millions of his own money and a vision and a plan that has up to now gone smoother then anyone would have thought a year ago.

I feel it is up to the players themselves to take some initiative because in the long run only the players can make a difference, the players have to organize and keep watch on the cookie jar. If they don't have some say in how the sport advances then they are doomed to repeat the past, many other sports have player associations or at the very least some sort of organization. Pool players have nothing, and some could even say they allowed the BCA get taken over by the business owners due to a lack of interest in how it was run.

Out of my local BBB Wise Giving Guide, all the non-profits are listed with the % that is actually put back into their programs. United Way disclosed that it only spends 46% of their donations back on the actual programs. Yeah, they're looking out for their people!

I really want the IPT to succeed. I have known Deno for years and really like him. Unfortunately, they have owed me money for many months now, and despite many promises they have yet to pay. I am very disappointed, and very afraid for the players who have yet to be paid.

Linda,
here is what your local BBB said about your friend. Just because a org is non profit doesn't mean it's employees are paid. 46% I can't speak about...it's all relative to what their pears do.

KInda like the joke- Guy walks in the Butcher Shop and asks for a pound of Sirloin, The Butcher says sure that will be $12.99, The guys say "WHat?- it's only $8.99 a LB across the street". Butcher says "well why dont you buy it over there then?" Guy says "they are out of it now" . Butcher says "well when we are out of them, it's only $4.99/LB".
