I thought that the IPT had changed its mind about allowing non "selected" players to be able to pay a larger entry and take there chances along with the special chosen ones. However it now looks like two of the biggest tourneys next year will be open to anyone that wants to stump up the $1000 entry fee:

Dear Applicant,

Thank you very much for your interest in playing on the 2006 International Pool Tour.® It is with regret that I inform you that you have not been chosen as a 2006 tour member. The official International Pool Tour™ player list can be viewed by clicking here.

However, there is great news that I would like for you to consider. Your application has been placed on the alternate player list, so there is a chance you will have an opportunity to fill a spot in future tournaments. Also, there are three open events in which you can compete next year. The first of those events is the IPT US Open 8-Ball Championship (SM) which offers an unprecedented $2,000,000 prize fund. The second open event is the IPT World 8-Ball Open Championship (SM) with an even more historic $3,000,000 prize fund. The third open event is the IPT 2007 Qualifying Tournament where you will have a chance to win a spot on the 2007 tour by placing in the top 50 of that event. Details of these events are available on the tour web site linked below. Needless to say, you can still do very well by participating in these historic open events!

Again, thank you for your interest in the International Pool Tour.® I look forward to meeting you in person and hope that you will compete in the open events and qualify for the 2007 tour in the qualifying tournament.

Best regards,

No. But I can suggest that you read Mr. Hadd's name out loud to a friend and note his reaction.
